Bought noted TV at Costco June 2007. Once we had an instance where it would not come on for some reason but next day it was fine. Worked perfectly until about 3 months ago when we turned off the TV with the remote to go out for a while. When returning tried to use remote to turn on and it would not come on. Also tried the main power button on the TV with no results either. Vizio Tech support was absolutely worthless. Any ideas? If you can offer any help, please do so in the most "TV Repair for Dummies" mode as that is what we are............HELP

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on. If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.

0178 will work but you have to keep the set-up button pressed down for more than a few seconds after you press TV on your cox remote. (You will see the tv button light up 2 or 3 times after pressing it and holding the set-up button down)

My best guess is to check for blown fuses or the power board when bad inside the TV.
If that doesn't work, looks like you'll have to pay a repair shop to find out what's really going on.
Sorry I can't help you further.

This could be a main board or power board issue. replacing main board and/or power board should resolve this problem.

I had the same thing happen. We powered the set off, went to bed, and the next day, and since hten, have not been able to power it back on. Happened two months after the warranty ran out, go figure!
Good Evening
I have a brand new VX37L HDTV that was manufactured in December 2007. Two weeks ago I finally installed a wall mount and connected it for the first time. I've only been using it for two weeks and now it will not power up either by the remote or the manual button. When I try to power the TV on with the Vizio remote absolutely nothing happens but when I attempt to power the TV on using the manual button on the right side of the TV the VIZIO light turns white for about 2 - 3 seconds and then it immediately turns amber again. Can you help me with this problem?
I am experiencing the exact same problem. The T.V. was working fine until I hooked up a new DVD player to it this morning and when I tried to turn the T.V. back on - no power. I've tried everything. I unhooked the new DVD player (which works perfectly on our other two T.V.'s), I've tried a new power cord, I've moved the T.V. to a new outlet (even though the DirectTV box had no power problems working out of the same outlet), and I changed the batteries in the remote control (even though I could tell it still had batteries because a red light comes on every time I push a button on the remote - even though it doesn't turn the power on for the T.V.
The problem is definitely with the T.V. itself.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
