It might work today,but tomoro it will give me this message!!USB Device not Recongnized!! I dont understand why it is doing this and I was able to go in and fix it the last time but I cant now why is that?and I know it isent the usb cable because it has been doing this off and on for about a month I just cant seem to fix it this time! It is also saying that there is no driver installed and I have tried everything to install it but cant!!

their is obviously a corupt file on the cd best thing to do is take it to phone repair shop and ask them if the programme is ok they should tell you if it is the right disk as sometimes the disk dont cover you serial no and might need a newer version or the disk might not be compatible with your pc hope this is some help

I was having this problem as well, but solved it.
I, like others decided to just buy a USB cable for my VX9900 and use Windows Media Player for sync'ing. (I also have the Verizon Essentials program that I downloaded, but I like WMP better. No particular reason).
I was getting the installation messages and as soon as the MTP message came up, I got the "problem" message and it didn't sync.
What I did when I got the cable was to run the CD drivers that came with my cable. That may have been my mistake. I was bothered that the date of my driver was in 2005 since the phone came out late in 2006. So I looked at the name of the driver and it was something like C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\LGUSBDriver.xxx whatever... I went to my device manager and uninstalled the driver. I went to the C:\Program Files\ and deleted the LG USBDrivers folder. I went to the Windows/system32/drivers folder and there were three LG*.* files I deleted them. The next time I plugged the phone in and set it to sync, it worked. It's late and night and I may not have typed this really clearly, so feel free to contact me at bill (at) halfamind.com (because a half a mind is still a terrible thing to waste).

You probably have the USB selection set incorrectly on the phone. Go to Menu, then Connectivity, then USB, then select "Data Service". The should fix it.

i am not very good with phones at all i **** really bad all i do is text and talk and well i just got the new lg chocatle vx8550 and i was wondering if you can bluetooth songs from somebody elses phone to my phone off bluetooth and set them as ringtones on my phone?

i plug in usb device...........and i get the message bla bla not recognized
then i go to control panel..system....device manager
there under the USB, I remove/uninstall "unknown device"
after that I unplug/plug and ............... it works
it reads the device correctly
