Thanks for your reply, Nick61! When I connect other devices in the same USBs, everything works...so I guess the problem it's not the USBs. I'll try connecting in my husband's computer.

I tried plugging it into another USB port and that didn't work. I tried plugging another device into both ports and that doesn't work. I asume the connection is via an USB?
Try another usb-port and see if that helps, if not try to connect the disc on another PC (maybe a friends pc) and see is that pc recognize the disc.

Your internal drive is different than your external drive. If you put more files onto your SimpleTech drive, then that one is going to fill up faster. The best thing to do would be to go through your SimpleTech drive and delete anything that you don't need. I don't remember my SimpleTech drive coming with any software on the drive, but if it did, it didn't take up much space.
I got one with the same problem. I opened up the case and hooked up the hard drive to a generic usb to sata adapter that i picked up on ebay and it works fine now if a bit clunky looking.
If you really can not get it to work anymore, you could try opening it up and connecting the hdd directly on a IDE/SATA port in your computer. This will only work if you have a desktop, for a laptop you would need all kinds of converters.
One thing to remember is the some of the Simple drives requires the USB mini to conect to the drive and the TWO USB connects to be plugin to the computer.
