I can't find my manual. I just replaced the batteries in the push button and the base. But I can't get it to work. I need the chime code combinations so I can setup the right codes. I have a GE Wireless Battery Operated Chime with one push button. Bought it about 4 years ago. I believe there were less than 5 different codes for it.
Model number shows GE1601S & GE1602S
Hi there. I think I have the same GE chime. It has a series of 4 dip switches on the bell (base) and also in the switch unit. Just make them the same. On mine for example, switch # 1,2 & 4 are up (on) and #3 is down (off). Any combination of 16 codes should work as long as both units are the same. Just as an aside, I had a problem with mine working intermittently, then mostly not at all. It was the actual pushbutton switch inside the button unit. Luckily, I replaced the micro-switch and it's working again. Also during cold wet weather, the 12v battery gets depleted faster than normal probably due to moisture inside the switch unit. I taped a piece of plastic from a sandwich bag over the switch unit to help keep water out.
I hope this helps.....
I have the impression the 4 DIP switches were for transmit frequency, not chime sounds. Setting the DIPs for blocking out other devices from setting off doorbells. IF youhave trouble w/ false alarms or failure to chime & batteries are good, try another setting( base & button should be same. IE: 1 thu 4 either up or down. Up is ON down is OFF so set any combination as long as same on & off on all units. I kept getting false chimes & reset to 1&3 off, 2&4 on to block those signals (I think from hospital across the street) That chimed all night & day hours. Jim R Seymour TX
IF I am wrong, please advise
The 4 dip switches are definitely frequency settings. Believe it or not I suddenly started getting false signals again, By resetting the 4 in another combination I blocked these signals as before (which worked well until this last week when they started again). This always seem to happen about midnight & my dogs would create quite a din so I was about ready to throw the whole thing out if nothing else worked....
I do wonder what the Jumpers are for though..There are 2 sets of 2 pins in transmitters with a jumper connecting 1 pair, that could be switched to other set. Could they be setting the Front vs Back door signals?? Jim R. Seymour TX 10/11
The4 dip switch settings must be the same on all transmitters (doorbell buttons) AND the base unit

My GE door chime model # 1601S 1602S was purchased less than six weeks ago. If anyone has a Wife like mine they will know what I mean. She is a neat freak, and the package that the chime came in along with the instructions, unknown to me went into the garbage before I could study it. The result being, I believe that anyone dialling their cell phone as they drive past my home activates the chimes.... to make matters worse, I live on a very busy road.
Thank you for your attention. Alex
I have somewhat of a similar problem. I replaced the baterries in both push buttons and the chime housing. The problem I'm experiencing is that only one of the push buttons work now. How do I solve this situation? By the way, I had all five batteries tested and they are all good.
I have a similar problem. I have the button and the chime with the same dip switch setting, but my chime sounds randomly with different.
I suspect that some other wireless device is interfering, but I can't figure out which it might be and why it causes the chime to emit different tones.
As suggesting are welcome, as it chimes at 3AM and other odd hours.
This is a simple device. I lost the instructions and GE has no online manuals. I do recall the instructions recommended not placing the chime or button near anything metal.
I also wish I could set it to the tone I prefer, but it seems changing the dip switches doesn't change the tone.
