Normally you want to boot from the CD/DvD drive 1st then the Hard Drive 2nd. This is the best way because if the hard drive ever goes bad you can put a operating system disc or repair disc into the drive and boot from it.

Just be careful that when you boot the computer you don't have a music cd or movie dvd in the drive otherwise you might get an error messages saying unbootable device.

How do you change the lock if you dont know the password

you have a couple of options, the best is resetting the device to factory settings, or wipe. You will however lose all your data.. But you can log in to verizon wireless via app or web and back your settings/data up if you haven't set up a regular back up already. To do this first have the device powered off.. You're going to use a 3 button combination boot: hold down home, up volume button, and the power button..... you'll see the samsung s3 come up first, followed by the Android logo at which point you will let go.. : Now you will see a small safemode list, using the volume keys scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and select it using the power button: scroll down and select yes: delete all user data, and select with power button again. it will confirm saying its whiping/formatting, and then it ill be complete.. then you can select the first option again with the power key to reboot the device.. It will take a little longer than normal to boot because it is configuring the default settings, and it will boot into the setup phone feature like it was brand new..

Security Chassis Intrusion Detection note.gif NOTE: When the administrator password is enabled, you must know the administrator password before you can reset the Chassis Intrusion setting. This feature, if installed and enabled, detects that the chassis was opened and alerts the user. To change the Chassis Intrusion setting:
  1. Enter system setup.

  2. Press the down-arrow keys to move to the System Security option.

  3. Press <Enter> to access the System Security option's pop-up menu.

  4. Press the down-arrow key to move to the Chassis Intrusion setting.

  5. Press <Enter> to select an option setting.

  6. Press <Enter> again after you update the option setting.

  7. Exit and save system setup.

Option Settings
  • On - If the computer cover is opened, the setting changes to Detected, and the following alert message displays during the boot routine at the next computer start-up:

Alert! Cover was previously removed.

To reset the Detected setting, enter system setup. In the Chassis Intrusion option, press the left- or right-arrow key to select Reset, and then choose On, On-Silent, or Off.

  • On-Silent (default setting) - If the computer cover is opened, the setting changes to Detected. No alert message appears during the boot sequence at the next computer start-up.

  • Off - No intrusion monitoring occurs and no messages appear.

When i press power on; F2 set up and F12 boot options appear and nothing else happens and i dont know what to press next for ti to start up.

Are you trying to reinstall your OS? Or just trying to boot to normal mode?
If the first is your case, you have to choose booting with CD drive in order for your system to boot on your CD Installer.
However, if the second is your case, you don't need to press F2 and F12 after powering on. If you encounter this without your BIOS changed, try reverting it back to BOOT on HARD DRIVE. That is when you are in the BOOT OPTIONS, select HARD DRIVE and press ENTER.

I would lick ti instal xp on my set toshiba tecra a2-s316 but i dont know how to boot my system by bootable cd

When booting you laptop notice the Toshiba scree. As that screen displays with the option F2 or F10. With your XP cd in the DVD/CD drive choose F10 and set your boot device to DVD/CD.
And follow the onscreen prompts.
Hope that helps.

This happens when set you PC on Safeboot Option.

Follow the steps mentioned below to boot in normal mode.

1: Once you are in the Safe Mode, Click on Start and then Click on Run.
2: Type msconfig (you will see system configuration utility).
3: Click on Boot.ini tab and check for the Boot Options.
4: You will see Safe boot options check.
5: Uncheck it then click on apply and then then ok.
6: Now your computer will boot in Normal mode.

Once you reach the desktop you will again see the system configuration utility screen. Just check the option don't show this message again. You are all set.

My Toshiba boots up with Black screen with a blue box saying Enter Current Password: in white lettering.

i think its power on password The Power On password is set in the System BIOS options. It prevents unwanted users from accessing the computer. By default, does not set the Power On password. If you set the Power On password in the System BIOS options you will be prompted for it immediately after you power on the Notebook PC

if you dont know the password go for a toshiba serviceing center for solve this

Hal dll missing or corrupt please reinstall ...

If you know how to get into the bios (usually by holding down the Delete key when booting) you can check to see if it is set to boot from CD. Bios navigation is entirely with the keyboard. Bios layouts and tabs are different for different motherboards. If you boot into the bios, you should come to a basic screen. Look at the options on the screen and see if there are boot sequence controls - older motherboards had it there and there were just two options, which device to go to first and then second. If you have that option, set the first boot option to CD and the second to the hard disk. I think most newer motherboards have it on an advanced tab. There should be something like I described above or there may be multiple entries - say 3 lines give 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Again, set the first option to CD and the second to hard disk. If you don't see any of the options I've described, you may just have a bios different from any I've seen. Explore all of the tabs to find these settings. They have to be somewhere. Assuming you've made the changes, read your screen to see how you save your settings. The info is probably at the bottom of the screen crammed among some function key descriptions and navigation instructions. "save and exit" is probably F10; "exit without changes" is probably ESC. Press F10, then reboot with the CD in the drive. If this doesn't work, there are other things to get into, but lots of things can go wrong and you'll be in more trouble if you lose your dad's data. Fess up on what happened and suggest that you dad post a follow-up here if he needs help.
