SOURCE: How do you remove the agitator on a Maytag Dependable Care Washer?

If this is a Maytag Performa or Atlantis model all you have to do is remove the center cap on the agitator by pulling on it and locate the agitator bolt underneath. Loosen the bolt, and the agitator should pull straight up.

If this is a Maytag Dependable Care series there will be 1/4 inch screw along the side of the agitator towards the bottom. Remove this screw and the agitator will pull straight up.

I hope this helps you.

PS If the problem is due to the build up of fabric softener, soak in some hot water to loosen it up. Fabric softener is essentially a form of liquid wax and it is common for it to accumulate and clog the dispenser in this manner. Periodic cleaning is recommended.

SOURCE: how you open a maytag ensignia washer

The older models had screws at the base to remove. The newest ones have spring clips instead of screws1c7ff10.jpgthis is a dryer but basically you washer fron panel comes off like this when you release the spring clips on each side with a simple putty knife.

Maytag top loading washing machine is leaving small black spots on clothes. The washing machine is only 2 years old

Black spots on clothes from a washing machine can be caused by several issues:
  1. Detergent buildup: Clean the detergent dispenser to remove any buildup.
  2. Hard water deposits: Install a water softener to remove minerals that can leave spots on clothes.
  3. Lint buildup: Clean the lint filter to prevent lint buildup.
  4. Poor-quality detergent: Switch to a high-quality detergent.
  5. Agitator problems: Check the agitator for any damage or issues.
If the issue persists, it is recommended to have a professional technician diagnose and repair the problem as it may require technical skills and specialized tools.

Washer wont agitate, pops breaker

Could be the gears/transmission for the agitate cycle are jammed, the motor then freezers, creates an overload and the breaker pops.

I have a Maytag Washer Model LAT9206BAE, I have cleaned the washer but my clothes are still getting a lint like substance on them. Is there a screen or something on the discharge that may be blocked.

There is no filter. You may have something that is hung up under the agitator. To remove the agitator, remove the fabric softener cup, then the bolt that holds the agitator on and lift the agitator out.

Where is the lint screen on this washer?

If it's a maytag top loader you may find it underneath the agitator. The agitator is removed by loosening the screw at its base and lifting it out. In saying that, the lint screens are supposed to be self-cleaning.

My maytag ensignia fills with water but stops after that. if you turn the knob to the next step, it will agitate but it wont go to the next step by itself.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that the Timer(part#7 in the picture) has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Also, check the Timer knob and if you hear a clicking sound then its certain that you need to replace the Timer as everything else seems to be working fine. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Squealing during agitation...drum seems to be 'sticking' ....

could be several things if it is an intermittent squeak that goes in time with the agitation then you have bad brakes if it is constant then you may have a bad pump or object in the pump

My Maytag Ensignia washer is not spinning well. It bangs side to side with even the smallest loads. It seems like something is loose. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need a repair mans help....

Try leveling the washer... If the washer is level, then don't wrap the clothes around the agitator...drop the clothes straight in, on top of each other evenly around the agitator. The Ensignia washer has a Dual action agitator... That means the clothes roll over them selves, instead of moving side to side, as with a traditional agitator. wrapping the clothes around the agitator will cause the load to be un balanced and then cause the "banging" noise... this should take care of the problem...
