Washer fills but won t advance to the next setting for all cycle
For all the cycles--the washer will fill continuously and won't move on to the next setting. The water stays on, but drains out--doesn't agitate or spin unless I manually move the dial. Help!
I don't hear that and someone else had actually suggested that might be the problem. Do you know what part I need to order? A new dial?I don't hear that and someone else had actually suggested that might be the problem. Do you know what part I need to order? A new dial?

The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Sounds like what you are describing is the timer on the dial is not activating the next cycle. Timers are usually the problem when the cycles do not complete there cycle
There could be several causes for this, but probably a bad timer. One test for this...when it stops...is to turn it off...and turn the timer slightly clockwise...to the middle of the rinse cycle...and turn it back on. Does it run then?? Try advancing it to the spin cycle after the rinse. If it runs okay after you manually advance the knob...the timer is probably defective.
it sounds as if its your lid switch. on some top load whirlpool washer it will fill even if the lid is open. if you open the control panel and open the jones plug you can check for continuity on the lid switch

My washer fills and begins the first wash cycle, but will not move on to the next cycle. What can you suggest.
Cycles work but won't draw in a drop of water
