Usually the error code 01 means you backed up water in the unit. First be sure that the drain is clear.  Run the garbage disposal and be sure your sinks are draining.

I got lucky on a EIDW6105 unit by trying this.

All the lights are flashing and it shows error code 01.

Push down on two of the buttons and hold (I pushed on the Favorite and Heavy buttons), until the flashing stops (about 8 seconds).

The machine now showed and error code 08.  Then hit the start button.  My washer then cleared and runs normally.

Hope this helps, better than a sevice call to clear the code.

There is a New software upgrade that addresses this issue. I called Electrolux and they are sending someone out to do the upgrade Kit and the software upgrade for me without charge.

I had the same problem, the sears guy came out and found water in the bottom pan of the unit.(Unit has to be pulled out to get to the pan.) He suggested that the back legs of the diswasher were too high and water was unable to drain out properly. So he lowered the legs and we will pull the dishwasher out in about 2 months to check for water in the pan.

This dishwasher is a piece a junk. This happened 3 times already. Take a shop vac and **** all of the water from the bottom of the tub. You'll need to remove the mesh filter and really get all of the water out. I attached the end of a turkey baster to the end of my shop vac to get all the way down.

Put a fan in the dishwasher with the door open for 48 hours. Try turning the unit on again. This has worked three put of three times.

Ugh I am so FED UP with every Electrolux appliance in my house!! I have the dishwasher, refrigerator, and washer and dryer and not a single one of them are worth their price tag. Garbage!! Anyway, this morning my dishwasher gave me an 01 code. This is the first time this has happened. So from what I'm reading, I'm gonna have to pull it out from under the counter and dismantle it to see if there's water backed up somewhere? Ridiculous.

Just FYI for others who are unfortunate enough to have this piece of junk in their house, the touch panel controls on it have also stopped working more than once. Sometimes they come back to life with sheer patience and occasionally slamming the door really hard, but ultimately my husband had to take the entire front of the dishwasher off and replace some part to get it working again. Even so, after all that, the same thing happened just a few days later. Should have done our due diligence before we bought this piece of junk!!

I hate this dishwasher also. I've already had to replace the motor once, and I maybe use the thing once a week, maybe. And the microwave door handle broke out of nowhere but of course, you have ro replace the entire door because the handle is attached to the door which has the controls and brain. But it wasn't anything a little bondo couldn't fix.

Electrolux is like BPJ, Beautiful Piece of Junk. It is not the famous for endurance Swedish appliance, it is just fancy rebadged Frigidaire with unreliable, made in Mexico parts added.

Same issue with EW30EW6CGS. There was a backup due to poor drainage. Fixed that but still getting error code, in other words can't run the thing for testing. I'm going to try the hairdryer, there's no leaking. Sensor must be overly sensitive. I'll check back to report on success.

I'm checking back in with good news. The dishwasher is working. I want to tell a bit of a back story of our troubleshooting. 4 days ago there was water leaking out of the dishwasher, which hadn't been in use for a few days. Opened the door to foul-smelling deep water. Drained the water with a siphon. The water was quite scummy. Couldn't start the machine despite tripping relay, waiting 3 minutes or more, and repeating. Only getting error 01 code = leak. Tried resetting the unit several times, "hold sanitize for 8 seconds". It always went back to the same error code, despite there being no more backed-up water under the unit. Checking drain hose found that it drooped below entry port to garburator; it likely always had as we didn't install ourselves. I tacked it up higher with some clamps as there was a definite backup issue with this hose. It's clear and you could see the residue (blackness) inside as well as a trap of water. I took the end clamp off at the garburator and ran a brush inside and helped clean the inside a bit. Now I've got everything right but still the same error message. Taking some advice here I put a hairdryer on for a couple of hours. Nothing. The next morning, still nothing. A few hours later I was getting ready to open up the base and use Youtube videos to navigate toward the sensor to find out if there was an actual leak. Just before doing that I tried the reset 2 more times. The second time it went into Econo mode. I let it run not wanting to interrupt the cycle. zero leaks. ran better than ever. Analysis. Our unit never had the drain line secured above its drain opening on the garburator. There was always a water trap which at times impeded flow and often allowed for a build-up of murky water. Droop also made the line more susceptible to reverse siphon out of garburator if it was ever full of water (happens around here sometimes). I got lucky. Was quite certain there wasn't an actual leak, just the result of a bad backup. Now will always make sure the garburator is empty before starting the cycle. Ran 3 loads yesterday and seems to be working better than ever. Good luck everyone.

I've just had the same problem (error 01) after 6 years of use. We've been noticing leaking at the bottom of the door the last few weeks. I was able to clear the error code by holding High Temp, and it's now running a full cycle. Before running I took a close look at the rubber seals around the door. There was a lot of "yuck" under the edge of the seals, especially in the lower corners. This was keeping the seals from sealing properly. When I started it there was still a small leak. Opened it up and noticed the bottom seal where the "yuck" was was bent now and not fitting over the flange when the door closed. I closed the door holding it over the flange and the leak is gone. I'm hoping that after cleaning out under this seal it bend itself back into shape, otherwise I need to buy a new seal. Lesson in this, check under the edge of the seals and clean occasionally.

I have used the same method as Rudy about 10 times now. Only difference - I put my blow dryer in the tub obn and off so as not to overheat and I can have the thing running again within an hour or so.

I have no words to describe how much I detest this worthless $1000 dishwasher. I just had a space heater and blow dryer running in mine for the past hour and now it's starting to run. I have yet to see if the thing kicks off again. If money grew on trees, this thing would have been thrown over the side of my deck years ago.

What does 01 error mean?

Hello Ned, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Electrolux dishwasher is displaying an error code of "01". This error code means that a leak has been detected. Have you noticed any water coming from the bottom or near the dishwasher? This could also be a miscommunication within the control of the dishwasher and a reset may help clear that out. You can reset your dishwasher by disconnecting power from it for at least ten minutes. If that does not help to resolve your issue I would suggest having a professional technician out to perform a proper diagnosis and repair. I hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Model EIDW6305GSI error code 03 comes on after about an hour after cycle starts could anybody tell me why this happens thanks

Good Morning steven hutchings, thanks for your inquiry!

I understand that your Electrolux dishwasher is displaying an error code 03. Normally, error code 03 means an issue with the wash motor, wash motor hall sensor, or control panel. I would suggest performing a reset on your dishwasher that could help clear any false error codes. You can reset your dishwasher by flipping the household circuit breaker in the off position for ten minutes. If you continue to have an issue with your dishwasher displaying an error code 03, I would recommend having a professional technician come out and properly diagnosis your dishwasher. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Have an error code 01 on my electrolux dishwasher

Good Morning Friend, I am happy to assist you!

Typically error code ER01 indicates that a water leak has been detected under the tub of your Electrolux dishwasher. Your dishwasher may possibly need a hydraulic kit. Try unplugging your dishwasher or flipping the household circuit breaker off first. It is good to wait approximately ten minutes and turn on your appliance. If the error code continues to display, then I recommend contacting a professional to make a precise diagnosis. Best regards! - Z

Error code 01 keeps coming up and will not let dishwasher complete its cycle. My dishwasher no. is ewdw6505gso and it is only 3 years old. I have 2 other appliances that are Electrolux. Please help.

Mine was only a few months old when error 01 arrived - it is a leak. The Electrolux dishwashers have a leak detector at the bottom inside the plastic pan, that when water appears it sets off the code and you cannot restart the dishwasher until you dry the pan out (tip the unit forward and water will come out) but it will keep on doing it unless you repair it - mine was covered under warranty and they replaced a lot of parts at the bottom. Not even a year later it leaked again, but not as bad. I took it apart and removed a fabric pad that sits in the bottom of the pan, it does not go off that much any more since the water evaporates before it does any damage. I think this feature is completely useless - I would rather see a wet spot on the floor than not be able to do dishes... If you got 3 years you are doing well. I will just replace my appliances as they die and never buy Electrolux ever again! PS if a refrigerator is one of your other units, be aware that their main boards can fail and are very expensive to replace. You will know it is blown when your food freezes in the lower compartment and your lights come on instantly instead of glowing up slowly.

Control demo

Hello - If the unit was in demo mode it would not produce any water or rinse actions. So if you have water entering the unit, I doubt it is at all in demo mode. Error E01 for Electrolux models means the unit has detected a water leak. This will need to be checked and a repair performed by a technician since they will need to repair the leak and retest unit.

Error 01 code on led screen and dishwasher does not function.

Errror 01 is a leak detector. In the base of the unit the is a sensor to check for water. If this sensor is activated it will stop the unit from running. The water must be removed, in order for the sensor to reset. It will not reset if it senses water in the base. You can remove the to toe panel, and open the center compartment where the electronic control is mounted. On the top left side there is a series of LEDs that indicate the exact nature of the error code.
