I have this model (ProScan 26LB30QD) and recently removed the base. There are 4 phillips head screws on the rear panel of the TV just above the base. Remove them, pull the TV from the base, and replace the screws in case you need to use the base in the future. I suspect the problem others are having is that they only removed 2 of the screws.
Two screws on bottom and the two screws above them..slide out base.

This worked. We were ready to cut off the base but I gave it one more try. I ended up removing the 6 screws on the back (maybe I did not need to remove all 6, but I was pretty frustrated by this time) and the base slid right out (I also had the television resting flat on the sofa, screen facing down.) Thanks for the advice.

I gave up and left it on with it wall mounted. It fit. I'd stil like to take it off though!
We have the smae problem on getting the base off.
base did not come off when screws were removed. any tricks to removing the base?
