The backlight or power supply for it has failed. Use a strong light next to the screen and look for a faint picture. If it is out of warranty, take it to a repair shop.
There is more than one problem with. A it could be the main board that finally gave out. B the power board in your TV is not work, and now you can see a picture. Depending on how it's connect the screen could be burn out. but just what type of light comes on when you try to turn it on. if the green light comes on and stay on then it has to do with the picture not the power if you need help narrowing down the problem you can call 226-2211 My E Discounts. I'm a tech and we work with a Astar TV from time to time.
It appears to be a power supply failure. In about 95% of cases is a defective power supply that causes the TV to behave as per your description.

Hello,
try to contact my friend Ivan 323-767-6030. He had working for the astar company as electronic tech maybe he can help you and answer all the problem of your astar tv.
Thank you.
Astar 30" LTV 3001 ....These TV's have a cooling problem that causes premature electrolytic capacitor failure. De-solder and Test all the 2200uF-25v, 3300uF-35v and 1000uF-10v caps in the power supply (center board, back of TV). Use a good LCR meter that will read 3300uF or better, Replace all bad caps with 105c rated caps. If you don't have an LCR meter, replace all the mentioned caps on the PS. If fuse on board is blown, also replace the F9222L regulator IC chip. Mounting a small cooling fan on rear of TV over the PS will help keep your new caps from failing again. This requires holes in the stand bracket and the rear of the TV, power can be supplied from a 14V source near the bottom of the PS board.
I had the same problem...

Most video problems originate in the power supply and not the video boards.
Lack of ventilation seems to be damaging the electrolytic capacitors in the PS's
If you know how to use an LCR meter and desolder the caps, you can determine which ones to replace. The PS feeds all the varius boards in the back of the set. This is the first place to start. If the main fuse is bad, you may have to replace the IC regulator chip too. Hosfelt Electronics or Mouser are good sources for components.
Make sure to replace with 105c rated caps. You may help the ventilation problem by adding several holes on the back plastic panel over the PS. If you have no electronic skills, it is best to hand it to one that has. Good Luck.
checked the outlet make sure its good and its plugged in the back also made sure the power switch was turned on still no juice
