Oh and the fuse is not blown??

  • Anonymous May 17, 2012

Thanks - this confirms what we were thinking - going to attempt to get the part even although LG South Africa has stopped making dvd recorders . Our major tv subscription network has bought all rights to recording via their pvr decoders- hold thumbs!

The power supply regulator board should be troubleshooted. It will be best to replace this board as card basis, rather than making surgery to it. You can bought this board fro the authorised service center for LG at your town.

SOURCE: LG RH289H DVD Recorder Unknown Disc. Please check disc again.

I have had the same problem a few times. All I do is eject and re-insert the disk until it recognises it, this seemed to work for me

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic DVD

Take out the 3 screws holding the DVD drive top in place. And then move
the drive head mechanism back (pushed it towards the back of the unit).
Then plugg the power in, turn it on . This will remove the u61 error code .

SOURCE: LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder

I have an LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder, which was suffering from the problem that it could not play any bought DVD movies, which were previously working fine in that same player. It would however play svcd and DVD+R/-R movie discs.

The solution was to replace the laser tray. I found a new LG DVD BD lens LPC-815 laser tray here: http://www.laser-xh.com/en/?act=showproduct&proid=1147
I bought two for $5.50 each. Shipping was $32 (DHL), all together $45.10 (PayPal fees included). Delivery was fast and accurate within 3 working days (China - Sweden).

I have more or less the same problem. My HHD/DVD Recorder RH278 does not read ANY CD or DVD, which were previously playing fine in the same player. Would it help to replace the laser tray and WHERE DO I...

Usually, the problem is condensation on the electronic circuits. LG has a fan which moves hot air out. If you turn on the recorder, it will get hot and dry out the moisture over time. Then the DVD will read the disk and do recording too. You may also be able to play music cd to dry out the moisture.cheap way to fix it, is to turn it on but not use it for a while.

DVD TRAY KEEPS ON OPENING AND CLOSING CONTINOUSLY

Hi, I have exactly the same thing. Happened before but went away when I got bored trying to fix it. This time I phoned LG support and they said take it back to Comet (they have bought out their servicing). End of conversation. Polite but firm.
Appalling support via their websites, appalling products. Never again.

My LG RH278 just says Please Wait when I start it but nothing happens.

Had same problem on sameLG unit. Found a Sony blog with same issue described and solution was a blown capacitor on the power supply circuit. Opened my unit and sure enough there was a bulging cap. Replaced it and starts up like normal. 90c repair. 53c88b9.jpg6643815.jpg

Cannot unlock ratings on my Panasonic DMR-ES20!

Apparently it is caused by power outages.
Here's the fix: Put in DVD mode.
• While the disc tray is open, press and hold [* REC] and [PLAY/x1.3] on the main unit at the same time for 5 or more seconds. Press until you see INIT on front screen of unit.

Installation of LG LRM DVD Recorder Model 519

be more specific with the problems you're having. following the instructions should be straight-forward. if you are using composite cables from the unit to your tv, be sure the composite/480i/480p switch is et to "composite". it'sa small black switch on the back of the unit. make your selection while the unit is powere off. Finally, the composit cables are usually plugged in to the "AV" inputs on the TV -- make sure you set your TV's input to "AV"

MAGNAVOX DVD RECORDER MODEL # MWR10D6: Is a piece of junk. Yet another worthless waste material and rescources. In other words they or someone else could have taken the materials and energy used to assymble this thing and used it for some other appliance or device that would actually work. This thing is so worthless that it was environmentally irresponsible for the manufactures to even make it. Now all it's good for is filling landfills.

My suggestion is to do as I am right now and go onto any and every forum, or message board you know about and warn as many people as you can away from this piece of junk and the SCAM that is being perpatrated by Magnavox and whoever else helped them cook up this scam.

I've even made space for a photo of it and description of how sorry it works on both my myspace.com and facebook.com pages.
