Hi Mr Gizmo, I have the same problem with my Miele W828 front loader. Loads the water and then the rinse light flashes for a while and stops. Then the water is pumped out and the machine stops.
The brushes in the motor are OK.
I think that the problem is in the electronic board which costs A$390 to buy (parts only). I think it may only be a relay on the board (worth a few dollars?) that is faulty. But which one? Any ideas?
The shock absorbers were also not good and the Miele assistance told me on the phone that it is a common problem that when the shocks fail they cause something in the electronic board to fail (vibrations? stop and start to balance load?). Any help welcome

Hello Ellen, welcome to fixya. I would begin by removing the rear panel and checking the belt and insure the basket pulley isn't loose as well. If the belt is in tack ( not broke ) but has come off that sometimes is caused by a loose or bent pulley, hence the suggestion to check the pulley. If the belt is broke, it may simply be a matter of normal "wear & tear" and just time to replace it. Hope that helps point you in the right direction. Please take a moment and rate this info according to it's helpfulness or let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks for visiting "fixya" today and good luck. Macmarkus :)

Turn the machine off and unplug it!
There are 3 10mm bolts around the door that need to be removed, the soap dispensing drawer needs to be taken out and you have 3 torx20 screws (one on the left and 2 on the right) that have to be removed. The bottom left corner of the machine there is a small door that you open, remove the hose that's clipped inside it, there is a small tab on the lower left, release the tab, pull open the door.
To take out the seal you have to loosen the 8mm bolt band clamp, and pull the seal off. Fit the new seal on until you hear it pop. and reverse the order.
Hope it works for you.
You need to wipe the seal down with vinegar. Mold needs water to grow. Have you looked at the bottom of the dishwasher after a cycle to see if you have standing water? While you are looking clean the filter.
