With no owners manual, I need to know how to take the base off of my tv so I can mount it on the wall? I can't find a "release" at the base to separate it from the tv
You don't have to mess around with the screws on the bottom of the base.
There are 4 screws on the back of the Toshiba that are in line with the wall mounting screw holes.
Remove the 4 screws and the base falls off.
I removed the base of my NEC LCD TV. There were 2 screws in the base itself and two through the back of the TV that also locked the base in place. Don't know if this is applicable to Toshiba though.
I removed (then actually replaced again) the base on my Philips. There was a small panel on the reverse of he mount that slid up to remove. Once removed, the base removal screws were exposed. Be careful, the screws were tiny and could easily fall inside the TV. If that doesn't help you, try searching online for your owner's manual. There are many websites where you can download them for free - even the manufacturer's often have them.

possibly I didn't explain this right. I want to take the tv off of its original stand in order to mount it on the wall. not the other way around. there is nothing to slide, I've removed all of the screws from the bottom of the base and it still doesn't come off.
yes I have the same problem. If someone knows how to remove the stand please let me no thanks.
I can't remove the base to this tv either! This is driving me nuts. I've had the tv for over a year, and had it on a plain stand. i purchased a wall mount stand, which needs to be mounted.
If anyone has come up with a solution to remove the base, or can find a video which shows someone doing it, please send along the info and or a link.
thanks
im having same problem grrrr
