Can somebody please help me to reset the bios administrator password for my HP Elitebook 8440p. I tried to reset the password by disconnecting the battery cable (for about 20 hrs) but this didn't solve the problem. I also tried iBIOS etc and the SSM feature that is provided by HP but this requires the password Many thanks!
You must replace file bios in bios chip with epz2010 file bios original you can download in here Laptop Solution

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.
In case of your HP Elitebook laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.
SOURCE: Fn (function) key not working
A good check of whether the Fn key is working is to display the system information as follows...
1. briefly press Fn key, and then briefly press the Esc key
or alternatively...
2. Press and hold down the Fn key, briefly press the Esc key, and then release both at the same time.
This should display the version of the system BIOS as the BIOS date or system ROM version number.
If this doesn't happen, then either one or both Fn and Esc keys are not working. In any case since your laptop is new, it should be covered by a 30-day exchange policy from the place of purchase and you should just take it back for an exchange. If you can't get it exchanged and the purchase was on your credit card, you should have purchase coverage from the credit card company as well.

If you know the password you can enter the BIOS settings to change the password.. but i stress that you WILL need the current password to do so.
If you do NOT know the current password, you will have to remove the Lithium ION 1.5v battery from the computer, which will require a miniature screw-driver. If you remove the battery for about 30 seconds, the BIOS settings will be cleared to default.
In order to do this I suggest you look up a guide on the manufacturer's website and find out where exactly the battery is housed. It is generally very easy to access the battery, so don't be too scared off by all of the steps provided.
If you are a newer of computer, you can use the bios/cmos password recovery tool from http://www.biospasswordrecovery.com
Wish you luck!

Try downloading the installing the webcam drivers from HP website.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HPSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Webcam drivers.

SOLUTION: This is what I did and worked like a dream. Contacted HP, told them the problem. They "escalated the case," took my info. The next day I was emailed a file called SMC.bin. It is formatted specifically for my machine, has to match the UUID. Copied file to FAT 32 formatted jump drive, booted it as per the email instructions, reset bios password. I did this via chat on HP's website. Screwing with the bios battery will not work on Elitebook...
