ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.standby and power light both on - 5_18_2012_3_24_25_pm.jpg

Luxor tv flashing standby light

The flashing standby light on your Luxor TV can indicate several things, including:
  1. Power supply issues: If the TV is not receiving proper power, the standby light will flash.
  2. Malfunctioning hardware: A malfunctioning component in the TV such as the power supply, main board, or backlight system can cause the standby light to flash.
  3. Overheating: If the TV is overheating, it will go into protection mode and the standby light will flash.
  4. Software issues: A software glitch can also cause the TV to display a flashing standby light.
If the flashing standby light persists, it's best to unplug the TV, wait a few minutes, and then plug it back in. If the problem persists, you may need to contact the manufacturer or a professional repair service for further assistance.

LCD TV no power but standby light on solid

The standby light means the tv is plug into the wall and getting power. A power surge can wipe out a tv and still leave the power light on.

On Salton Waffle maker WM8Bel there is a standby light and a cook light. none of the manuals listed talk about the standby light and it never goes off.

I would suggest that the standby light is there to let you know that the unit is ready and waiting for you to set it and for use. Much like any appliance such as TV,s etc have standby lights. Any appliance with a standby light use a small amount of power. When not in use, its recommended to turn it off at the power point to save a bit of power.

I have a LG LED TV 55LS4500UD that no longer works after a storm. It won't turn on and no standby light. I have pics of the circuit boards. I would like to know which board to replace?

Power Issues Troubleshooting
*NOTE* LG & Vizio TVs must be plugged in for 5 minutes before it will turn on*
1. Inspect ALL Ribbons and connectors. Any tears or bad connections between boards must be replaced FIRST
2. If you have any of these boards, it should be the first board to be replaced
A) T-Con Board - Video Problems (No Video with standby light on, audio but no video, grainy, distorted, or color problems in screen)
B) X or Y Buffer Board (Plasma TVs only) - Standby light is on but no power
C) Backlight Inverter / LED Driver - No Video with standby light on
3. Main Video Board
- Standby light is on but no power
- Either video or audio does not work (if no T-Con in TV. If audio but no video it is T-Con)
4. Power Board - No power AND standby light does NOT turn on. If standby light is on try other boards above
5. Panel - No power, distorted picture, lines, slow motion, half screen, faded in / out. Panel problems are usually not worth replacing the panel.

I have a Insignia NS-L32Q-10A that will not power on. Now power on light or standby. I have replaced the power supply already. All caps look good and fuses check OK. What next???

ok, when you plug in the set, does the power light come on? Assuming you ordered a power supply in good working order, you may very well have a faulty main board. The power supply produces standby power that the main board uses to power the standby/power on light. Your main board also uses the standby power to provide the "ON" signal to turn on the rest of the power supply.

Tv went off while watching a program power standby red light blinks 6 times then pauses then repeats tried unplugging unit waiting a few minutes then replugged same results nothing. can anyone help me ?...

Here's an excerpt from the Sony Manual online. And the link - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/webtree.pl?template=EN&mdl=KDF55XS955&content_id=68&category_id=11&problem_id=52

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
