CD printing error 'inner cover is open'

When i try and print on a CD print from the program 'CD-LabelPrint' the printer says that the inner cover is open and I have to close it and press OK for it to print, when I do that obviously it prints on paper which I do not want.

I got the printer settings so it is supposed to print from the CD tray, I do have a CD in the slot. I followed all the guidelines from the 'CD-LabelPrint' program for printing on a CD and it did work a few months ago when i last needed to print on CD but not anymore. Please help me I really need this to work! I want ot print on a cd and it is saying that the inner cover is not open but it is!!. Help.

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly. If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

Canon MP810-CD-R Tray loading-printing problem

I read on another site that you must wait until prompted on the screen to put the tray into position. Opening the inner door and loading the tray before asked to and then pressing OK was the key to fixing the problem on the MP830.
It's the simple things that always get you into trouble, I guess.

Cd tray error Canon Pixma MP810

Sorry a little late only just read your problem.
The location is not the bottom tray feeder but the disk tray. In settings change your media type to "Printable Disk" the paper scource should automatically change to "Disk Tray" and hopefully every thing will work OK.

Printer

A support tech at Canon suggested I try this.

find the file ImageCache.ic - I found it in application data folder in My Documents, delete it.

Uninstall CD Label Print, search for any other "CD Label Print" files or folders and delete them too.

Re-boot and re-install CD Label Print.

This worked for me. Hope it works for you too.

Cheers

CD printing

there is a small, square button near the right, front corner. think of it as the button for the refrigerator light. It must be depressed by the closed top or maybe something to wedge it down. Duh
