OK, I FOUND SOME INFO ON A WEBSITE THAT I'M GOING TO HOTLINK FOR YOU. SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN DATE/TIME STAMP A PHOTO IS TO HAVE THE CAMERA IN THE POSTCARD MODE. I have had the same problem for a long time. It has nothing to do with the battery, etc.. It has to do with the software of the camera.
You are only able to have time stamps on the photos when you are in the postcard mode. (resolution will be set to 1600x1200, at fine setting) Check out page 29 and 39 of Advance user manual!

To get the date/time to be on your photos while taking the picture so you don't have to use the software later do this:
When in the mode to take pictures, press the round "Function Set" button and change the recording pixels to "Postcard 1600 X 1200". "Postcard" is the only setting that will allow the time/date stamp to be recorded on the picture.
Then press the "Menu" button and scroll down to "Date Stamp". You can select "Date", "Date & Time" or "Off". You can only do this when your pictures are set to the "Postcard" mode.
