Kodak Easyshare Z1285 shutter broken

2 month old camera, new batteries, SD card working...

We can take a picture almost like normal, except when you either view or download the pictures, the image is now totally black, and the date stamp will still show correctly.
Almost as if there is a shutter that is stuck in the closed position!?

thanks in advance

Hello!!

Try hard resetting once- Switch off ur camera , remove the batteries and press the power button for few seconds. then put the batteries back and try powering on!!

If still doesn't work then its defective CCD.You may suspect that the camera's shutter is not opening, but this is not the case.
If u are under the warranty u can repair the defective CCD.

Have a SDHC 8gb Kodak card that won't format in Z1285

It's suggested that you use any SD Memory Card formatting Software to format the SD memory card. You can download any such Software from the address given below:
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/support/jp/sd/sdfv2003.exe

Download the software from the above link and install in your computer and then format the memory card using it. After formatting the memory card, insert it in your Camera and use it normally.

Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 tells me my memory card needs formatted (any card I insert) but then is unable to format them and goes back to saying it needs formatted (3 different cards)

Memory card support for Z1285: SD/MMC up to 2 Gigabyte and SDHC up to 8 Gigabyte.

There is no firmware available online for this model.

The last option could be that the lever on the SD card is making the SD card data protected. Please turn the lever to the correct side.

I hope it works out

I have a Kodak M1033 camera that I bought just over 6 months ago. I took it on holiday it worked fine and then suddenly it switched off. Since then it only powers up for about 5 seconds, shows a unfoc

I'm not sure why this works for me, but I think it's worth a try:

1) First, take your SD card out of the camera.

2) Then turn on your camera and let it turn itself off.

3) Read the next step first and be ready to press the shutter release button (take a picture) right after the LCD screen turns on

4) With the camera lens pointed down towards the floor (aim down), turn on the camera. At this point the LCD screen should not be blurry anymore. Immediately press the shutter release after confirming that the LCD is not blurry. If the camera stays on and you can review the picture (most likely of your feet), then you are almost done.

5) Turn off the camera and re-insert your SD card.

5) This may not be a permanent fix, but point the camera lens downward whenever you turn on the camera. It should work normally if you do this. Mine worked normally (meaning I don't have to point it downward when I turn it on) after doing this several times. Your results may vary.

How to transfer pictures from Kodak EasyShare Z1285 to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Broken LCD on Kodak Easyshare C613

With how inexpensive that model has become, as low as $65.00 it would be cheaper to just buy another one and recycle the old one at a facility that takes E-Waste. Sorry for the bad news.
Take Care,

Kodak Easyshare Z1285

Are you using the batteries listed as compatible according to the cameras battery door? Or are you using NON-compatible Alkaline or Ni-Cad batteries? Only Li-Ion and Ni-MH are compatible. Hope this helps...
