LEW0050PQ dryer works but smells like burning

Dryer works fine (aside from a high pitched whistling that its done since purchase) it has just recently begun to smell like burning plastic.(honestly it smells a bit like pee and burnt plastic). I've taken the back off and it smells the worst around the element. One of the coils is very loose, but again, the unit still heats fine. Any suggestions?

Bruh your vent is clogged and backing up it’s actually fire hazards entire dryer needs to be serviced just to be on safe side.

In many machines, those elements, which are manufactured by "robots", are very cheaply made.
Rather than risk a fire, perhaps an investment of 20 - 30 dollars for a new element might be a good idea.
If you decide to do this, take a second look around for what specifically is getting so hot it is melting.
Likely the loose wire inside the element is doing that problem.
I should guess it is out of it's place and is melting an adjacent wire outside the heating element.
God bless your efforts.

SOURCE: prong on dryer plug gets hot and burns plastic on plug

You are right. There is not a good connection somewhere. When you say your replaced the cord, did you also replace the plug? Make sure all fittings are tight. Where it is melting, this is where the problem probably is. You can also check the receptacle and see that the wires to it are tight as well. There is a build up of heat or resistance in that area tha tis causing your problem. let me know how you do. Good luck.

Whirlpool LEW0050PQ dryer power button will not engage.

You need to turn off the power, get in behind there, and disconnect the wires to the power button and use a multimeter to check for continuity. If the switch works On - Off, then the problem is the main board or a bad connection where the switch wire connects to the board. Some use edge connectors.

Also test the high limit thermal fuse for continuity.

I have an ASKO T700 dryer. When I turn it on, it makes a high pitched squeak. If it's on for longer than a minute, I can smell a burning smell. Any suggestions?

you got a roller or belt idler not turning and burning the drum belt. you have to take the dryer apart and find the problem. if you need to lubricate a roller or idler use mineral oil or roller oil, do not use wd-40 or 3 in one.

Hi. My Neptune dryer was not sounding as I remembered it. A higher pitch than usual while it was drying clothes. Then I noticed it was reluctant to start when pushing the "start" button, with...

burning smell is because the drum is not rolling and the motor is trying to turn, hopefully it did not damage the motor: more then likely it the drum rollers/glides, might want to check the idler arm here is a website that will help. depending on fast you need your dryer a good and cheap place to buy parts is on eBay, of course they can be purchased locally, Good Luck Tim:

We purchased this product a month ago and it seems to be giving off a burning type of smell which we can smell both outside the vent and in the dryer itself. it seems to work fine

If it smells like an oily burn then it is just the oil burning off of the new parts in dryer, this is common. If it smells like electrical burning then call the manufacturer for repair. Could be a wire burning and if it is new it is covered under warranty.

Dryer does not start, makes a high pitched whistle noise.

Can your drum be stalled and the whistling is created by the belt slipping on the pulley on the motor?

Remove the top and front to look more closely at your situation.

Let me know what you find.

Dryer burning smell

Have you painted or stained in your house or apartment recently? The smell gets everywhere, dryer, stove, heating unit. I recently primed with Kilz and the clothes from my dryer smelled burned. When I called for service, it was the first question the service person asked and said they made a lot of useless trips only to find nothing wrong with the appliance. That was my case. I had to rewash clothes and let the dryer run with towels for a while
