Boss dr 880 a,b, outputs no sound when switch from internal master assign

take it appart. there is a conductive rubber between lcd pannel and the pcb use widow washer fluid without amonia to clean it

The first thing I would look at is the kill switches on each side, make sure these are not pressed. Also make sure the master fader is up. I would disconnect anything that may be plugged into the effects loop send and return. Make sure the main outs are plugged in correctly, the main master outs should go to a power amp, this unit appears to be a unpowered unit. Make sure you are using the proper cables to avoid damage, lookup and understand the difference in speaker cords and instrument cords and place them properly. sounds like the true bypass line has been damagd. Should be easy enough to fix. Pop open the unit and do a visual inspection first, if nothing is noticeable then do a continuity check with an ohm meter from input to output with the delay efffect off. If you don't read a short in this situation then your problem lays within the signal path and its switched path.

Midi doesn't actually "make sound". If your trying to record the patterns you made on the DR-5 to the recorder you need to use an audio output(I don't remember if they are RCA or 1/4" on the DR-5.) The midi output would be used to"trigger sounds" in another device that has sounds built in, or you could also trigger sounds in a program that supports midi input.
