When I connected my phone to my Itunes it picked up my email settings on my computer. Will this work for sending and receiving email on my phone or do I need a new email account for my phone? If it doesn't work with this phone why did it sync it to my phone? Am I mssing something in the setup?

The email settings are there on your phone. You can compose or reply to any mail and using any one of the accounts that has been synced. The mails will be sent using WI-FI or Edge service.
