I have a DVD player, VCR player, TV all attached to an RCA RT2250 audio/video receiver. All was just fine until 2 days ago when the DVD player would no longer give sound and icons of the speaker system...

It's possibly only needs soldering of the voltage regulators. they are on the main circuit board heat sink (middle of the receiver and can be accessed by the bottom panel.

DVD player not working properly

I have a DVD player, a VCR player, a TV set all hook into an RCA RT2250 Audio/Video receiver. Everything was working fine until 2 days ago. Now the DVD player gives me a great pix but no sound. The VCR,and TV are just fine and I have checked everything out, speaker connections, mute buttons, etc. and nothing seems to be wrong. I am thinking that some thing in the receiver got fried. Is it repairable?

Region free for RCA RTD160

Try to find out by looking at the menu of the dvd. play the DVD without a CD Rom in it then press stop and menu at the same time. It will let you select a region for it to play. But sometimes you can only do that with a different DVD players. so0me DVD players are only made to play on what you already have it on.

Drive tray stuck in open position

My unit just stopped working a few weeks ago and I am chucking it so, the unit is available for canabilizing.

I am pretty sure the DVD drive is fine since I was not using that when it died. I was listening to a football game with the TV on and using the audio through the system I think the power supply board died as nothing would work when I pushed a function button.

The remote works fine too so that is available as well as the manual.

I am currently using the existing speakers with a replacement unit, which is under warranty and I am burning in right now at near max volume.

I will be willing to send DVD player as it can be easily be removed from the unit if you want to pay shipping costs.

I bought a Zenith unit on black Friday from Circuit City for $79 with free shipping so I figured it would be as cost effective as trying to repair the RCA unit, plus I have a backup set of speakers.

Now I am looking for another low wattage 5.1 system to use in my retirement home in FL, since I have a spare set of speakers.
