Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

Follow the directions and good luck!

Sounds like a failed or at least failing power supply / power board
inside the TV.
Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an
electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You can test the voltage output from the power supply if you wish... that will show if it is indeed the culprit which I think it is. If you don't want to mess with that you will want to
contact a local TV repair person in your area if you are sure this is
out of warranty, more on that in a bit here. This is actually the
most common problem with this type of TV, I see it every day, it just
happens - sometimes with new TVs and sometimes it takes many years for
it to happen.
If you think it may
still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an
RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not
a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free
extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please
contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they
will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.
If
you want to attempt the repair yourself please let me know and I will
get you the part number and a place you can purchase it from for what
you need.
So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally. Please reply to my answer here with any questions or comments and I can help you for sure...
Thanks

I might just add that the first time I lost picture/audio there was a hissing and popping sound coming from tv......but after opening TV saw no bad capacitors
got it working again but only for a day on composite, HDMI has video but no audio.......then again lost power.....when turn on hear a hissing sound?
Took the metal heat shield that covers both main board and inverter/power board, this has seem to stop the tv to turn off all together....so far been running over 24hrs....my question now was it shutting down because of over heating?
It was fine until I switched it off then on again
