Faxing and Scanning Original documents won't go through feeder on Toshiba EStudio 352, any suggestions?

I'm trying to fax and scan documents through Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (automatically feeds a placed stack of originals one by one to have them copied) doesn't accept the document, instead it will scan or fax the screen. Faxing from the screen doesn't enable multiple page faxes. Scanning a document page by page is no fun. :(

Canon imageclass D1120 printer says: feeder paper jam,

Hi Try this method

To "Settings/Registration Table"

You can specify the method for restarting scanning of documents when a paper jam occurs in the feeder.

For information on the optional products required to use this function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

  1. Press b_in_add.gif(Settings/Registration) ? [Function Settings] ? [Common] ? [Scan Settings] ? [Feeder Jam Recovery Method].

  1. Select [From 1st Page] or [From Stopped Original] ? press [OK].

Details of each item are shown below.
[From 1st Page]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the first page of the document. [From Stopped Original]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the page of the document scanning was interrupted.

Black vertical line appears when faxing, copying, scanning on my Lexmark X6570

You didn't say, but I will guess that you are using the document feeder.
Clean the feeder glass, it's the thin glass strip next to the large flat bed glass. It probably has a dust or dirt spot on it.

Line appears on scans and faxes

Do you use the document feeder when faxing and scanning? If so, the line is likely some paper dust, white-out, or other dirt on the thin piece of glass to the left of the main platen glass. Wipe that glass strip with a lint-free cloth, and if that doesn't work try using a little bit of alcohol.

If the line persists, or it occurs when you don't use the document feeder, it's probably dust somewhere in the optical portion of the unit, underneath the glass. If you want to take it apart, you can blow some compressed air around down there to scatter the dust or try wiping down the mirrors with a lint-free cloth.

Whitch way does the paper go in for faxing ?

If your using the feeder on the top of the scanner, it should go face up. If you are faxing from the glass - face down.

Faxing

if using the feeder probably face up as it will likely pull the document in and invert it to lay face down on the scanning glass.

if you lift up the feeder (like lifting the top of a copy machine), then it would be face down on the glass.

there should be an image on the feeder illustrating how the document should be placed - if it looks like a page with lines on it with a bent corner then it is face up.
