Door remains locked and machine doesn't start running

We have the above washing machine. Its about 9 years old, and has done us well over the time. No problems until today! The front door remains locked - and the light doesn't go out, even if the machine has been been turned off for ages. So we can't get our washing out. However, the main issue is, it doesn't even start to wash when you press the start button. We've looked for the error code, and we think it's manifesting on the programme phase indicator lights. The flashing lights are is Wash, Rinse Hold and End. (ie 2, 4 and 8) What does this mean? And what can we do to fix it? I have drained out all the water from the machine, and have cleaned the water in filter. Thanks

Yes if you remove your soap draw and take a look inside you will see that there is all residue built on the top part of the internal draw, Either you can jet wash it off or replace the soap draw,,

this should solve your problem.. if that does not work then one of your solinoid valves at the back is faulty...

SOURCE: Zanussi ZWF1437W washing machine - wont start

The error message "Err" usually indicates that the wash program and option are not compatible. 40 degrees and 900 rpm Spin should be o.k.. I would try another wash program with no special options and see if the problem goes away.

Close your faucet valve & unscrew your hoses to check screens on hoses & machine. Clean out well. Water from faucet shd be in good pressure. Refit, check for leaks. If this is not the problem change your inlet valve, it is easily done.

SOURCE: Machine won't restart after reset, 'start/pause' button flashing.

Hello,

When you put it to drain/spin does the pump make any attempt to drain,if not it could be that there is something stuck in the pump,needs draining manually.Another thing to try is to find the fault code.If you hold down the 2 buttons on the far right of panel then press on/off button till lights start chasing,then release the 2 buttons on right hand side.Now the first function button by the on/off button you will need to press until the light above the button reaches the 9th or 10th position this will give you a read out in the display.
E10 = low water press.
E20 = pump or filter.
E30 = press. switch or heater faults.
E40 = Door swich.
E50 = motor.
Some of these numbers can vary there are more but those are the most common.After checking codes switch off machine then back on twice to reset.

Hope this helps.

I have a LG WM2701HV it is a year old and sometimes the washer is not turing on and doesn't turn. I have checked the wall outlet and other electronics work in it and the breaker. Help!!

Hi Robert.

If the washer is occasionally not starting there may be an inlet problem or the door switch may be defective.

Most LG washers display error IE (inlet) or DE (door) if the problem is detected. In some case the washer simply does not start.

Check that there is pressure from the house.

If machine does not fill the inlet valve must be tested. The resistance across valve's terminals must be between 0.8 and 1.2 KOhms
The valve must get 120VAC in first part of the cycle. Testing must be done by a trained person.

If the problem is intermittent the problem is more likely the door switch.
The door switch assembly is held by two screw. The door lock must click once or twice when the start/pause button is pressed to start the cycle.
The door switch can be tested reading impedance across its contacts. The reading must change between infinity and zero when the door is opened and closed.

In some occasion overloading may result in the washer not starting. Check if the problem happens in coincidence with overloading.

I've used my machine twice this morning but now it clicks on to lock the door but the red light doesn't come on and machine doesn't start the cycle. Any ideas?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

there is a problem either with the door lock or probably the 'door locked' sensor requiring a service call, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Indesit wil 153 door red led is flashing after I set washer settings, doesn't start cycle ?

The flashing light means that the machine thinks the door is not closed (The door lock switch is not activating). 99% of the time this is simply a sticky switch and the solution is to give the door a good firm slam shut (Don't get silly here, but it will take a pretty good "teenager slamming the bedroom door in a temper tantrum" type slam).

In the event that this doesn't work, then you're looking at a faulty door interlock switch. They're not that hard to obtain or fit if you're fairly confident. Drop me a comment back here and let me know how you get on. Happy to help further if the above hasn't allowed you to solve the problem.

Door Lock LED flashing

Hello, This depends on how old your machine is mine is now 7 years old so I do not want to invest in long term soltions. So I repaired my own, I bought a new interlock and replaced the old one that did not work. So I shorted out the three links that go to the interlock, the machine now shows the lock is always on and you can open the door during the wash cycle so BEWARE. Also if you have never wired a plug or fixed basic electrics DO NOT DO THIS. 1. Turn off power and unplug. (Very Important) 2. Remove lid you will need torx drivers. 3. Unscrew door interlock from the front of the machine. 4. Lift out interlock. Try replacing the interlock with spare first (about £15). 5. If new interlock does not work do the following. 6. Put Interlock back on without wires attched to it. 7. From car spares shop buy spade conectors and create a three way shorting link (insulate well). 8. Put shorting link into each of the wires that go to interlock. Safely tie up wire to a loom (do not let dangle) 9. Shut the door remove hands and try starting the machine. 10. If that works put the machine back together. And warn people that the DOOR CAN BE OPENED DURING WASH CYCLE and STARTED WITH DOOR OPEN. So check when the machine has stopped properly.
