I've had this monitor for about a year and a half with no problems. One day I went to check something on the computer and found the monitor completely dead, no amber light on the power button, nothing that made it seem plugged in (but it was). I've been using an old 15" monitor but I miss the larger monitor. Is there anything I can do to fix it? If it wasn't too complicated I'd like to save the expense of having it repaired. How much (approx.) would it cost to have it repaired? Would I be better off trashing it and buying a new one? I was kind of hoping there was an easy way of installing a new power source or some other simple do-it-yourself solution.
The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Check the solid State Fuse. 15amp 240v..It will be on the power supply or you can call it inverter.
SOURCE: DYNEX 32" LCD TV POPING
If it is from the inside of the tv if it is its never a good sign and you should turn it off immediatly and unplug. if its just the speakers it still isnt good but it might just be a faulty cord. Take it back ASAP to where you brought it and explain your problem
If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask

You can try performing a factory reset of the TV. Go into the service menu (Press, then release the INPUT button on the remote, then key in 2580). Scroll down to "Other Settings", then go to "EEPROM Init", then press enter, select YES and press enter. This will reset the TV to the factory defaults. Good luck!

Since the screen is broken, I would suggest not to even pay for best buys to come in and tell you that the price for a new screen might exceed the price of the LCD. In some cases this type of service parts might not even be available for replacement.

I dont knowe if this is the fiix but you probably blew a fuse ,especialy if it happened during a storm or a voltage spike in the house, like something turning on at the same time. the fuse is the one going up toward the sceen nt the main fuse . check the blog area of the manufacturer and see if its been a problem with that model ,ive heard of cold solder joints causinfg such things aus lot of thosse things get put together by robots.

Sorry, I can't help. I have the same exact problem. Mine went on the bum today 12/08/2008. It happened in the exact same way as you describe and in about the same time length of use. It must be something in common with all these pieces. Probably a manufacturing problem.
I'm just going to go out and buy me a new monitor. They go for $175.00 on up.
I'd like to buy another compatible Gateway, but I think it will go on the bum in another year and a half.
Good Luck
