Tp3281 c101 magnavox. I was watching tv and the picture went out. I unplugged it from the recept. waited a few minutes and plugged back in. still no picture, but the power light cotinues to blink on and off. I check what i could with the naked eye, I dont see any of the blue disc capts that look blown. Any Ideas?
Faulty power supply from experience - to put it simply, something in the circuit has simply given up under load and stopped the set from working (e.g. a shorted diode/IC package). The blinking LED/standby light on the front indicates the set is in 'protect mode'. Visual inspection is a good idea - I am glad you did a little bit of that to see if there were any blown or burned components - naturally you didn't notice anything unusual (modern sets use a lot of surface-mounted parts which can cause all kinds of trouble - and are a royal pain to replace being so tiny).
You could obtain a multimeter and check the diodes in the power section to start with and progress from there.
Due to the complexity of modern circuitry, and the use of cheap components during manufacture, along with a lack of available spare parts these days, it makes repair somewhat uneconomical and not exactly worthwhile in a lot of cases, especially if a replacement/refurbished board has to be ordered for a specific product model and shipped to fix the problem. The only way you can get around the cost issue and be assured of quality service is if the set is currently under extended or manufacturer's warranty.

Hi there, If the tele has been on for some time so that it has finished warming up inside and then shuts off, it could be an overheating problem. If the tele switched itself off radomly after switch on from cold, then there may be a dodgy connection or component. If you are familiar with what circuits are in this tele, especially the high voltage ones, try using a freezer spray, if you can locate the circuit which controls fault diagnosis. Make sure any fans are running, if there is one, and that dust has not built up on hot components. Lastly, if it is a regulator problem, I would have thought you would see other symptoms, such as a distorted, changing picture at irregular times, followed eventually by shut down. Good luck.

You will have to give the set out for service. This is not something you can service yourself.
This can be some failed components in the CRT bias and drive circuits, or maybe a CRT has failed. This has to be determined by taking measurements and doing some tests.
I believe that your set may have been manufactured by Philips.

I have a magnavox 27 inch table model...
when I turn it on it looses power for a few seconds and comes on again for a few more seconds, this happens about 9 or 10 times before it stays on however the picture is blurry and looks like it is lowing power...

Ya what you got to do is Grab your tv, and throw it out your window. Garbage tv with built in problems made to be fixed. I had the same tv and i had many problems with it before. Just buy a new one boss.
