My GE Spacesaver Washing machine in my apartment has been working fine for months, but now when it gets to the spin cycle (or what is supposed to be the spin cycle), it just sits there making draining noises forever, emitting this horribly loud buzzing noise. The timer on the control panel counts down, but all I get from it is this god awful buzzing. I know nothing about fixing appliances. What might the problem be?

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.

Every one needs to know that the expensive parts are under warranty for ten years the outer drum front and rear, the pulley, the inner drum. GE sent me all four parts retail value 1200.00 on their web site, got them today. Before I under take this project I am wondering if any one know if the drum seal the giant O ring ( the one between the two halves) should be replaced or can the old one be used?

Or, you have coins in your pump casing. Look on the back of the washer, and unscrew the circular port in the bottom right corner. (Keep an 8x13 baking pan underneath, water will escape once you open the chamber). Remove and change/objects from the chamber and replace the port. You should be good to go. This is actually very common for this model washer.

First plug off the wall. Open the machine from behind to examine if any shock-absorbers(known as dampers) or springs have come off or broken. Your dealer could help with spares. But you could do the job yourself.
