Hello,
I'm wondering if you can help me diagnose a somewhat loud Hobart A200
mixer. It is an older model, serial #794389. The planetary speed does not increase when put into 2nd gear and 3rd gear is noisy. Any ideas on what might cause this and what it might cost in parts to repair?

Many thanks!
Your A200 was manufactured in 1942. It may well be time for an overhaul. If it were only noisy, I would suggest re-greasing it, as that would quiet it down somewhat. With 60+ years on the unit, the odds suggest rebuild time. Before you commit to that, take the top cover off the unit, remove two dust covers, insert a hi-intensity flashlight into one hole and look inside the other, look for excessive wear on the gears. If you see excessive wear, and still want to re-build then call for a Hobart tech and warm up your checkbook, OR, pose the re-build question to bigg t (the Hobart tech on this website). He may be able to help you out. ricardok45
