Hello shellramsay,
If your circuit breaker continues to trip when you try to operate your dishwasher from the recpetacle that you plug it in to, then buy an extension cord ( appropriately sized ) and try another receptacle that is not on the same breaker. Although notthe best approach, it will work for you. You might have to hire an electrician to upgrade the service or to dedicate a receptacle for the dishwasher only and that would cost considerably more than an extension cord. Look at the dishwasher tag to see what it is rated for in terms of Power and get an extension cord that is as short as necessary and sized for that appliance..
Regards,
Rick
Also: Please contact me if the problem is not with the service but is the dishwasher itself and I may be able to assist in diagnosing that problem ...

I had a similar problem with my Indesit D63. The problem was caused when someone (ahem!) left the kitchen sink plug in. The diswasher waste is plumbed just above the sink's U-bend. This created a vaccuum preventing the dishwasher from pumping out the waste water. Eventually RCD tripped on the main fuse panel. Retrying with any other programs had the same effect.

What had happened was that the water reached the overfill "gun tower" - a plastic water level meter behind the lower arm slightly larger than a bottle cork. I guess this is a safety cut out to avoid flooding the kitchen.

I returned the next day and after doing some research, checked the water level which was just beneath the tower so I switched to soak, setting number 6 on the dial, ensured sink was unplugged and switched on. The washer stayed alive and completely drained in a few minutes. My guess is that enough of the hot water evaporated to reduce the overflow level.

My initial thoughts were that element or pump had gone. My plan was to try a cold rinse/soak, if it worked it was likely the element that had burnt out or let in water and needed replaced, if it didnt it was probably the pump. Thankfully it was neither.

Has the door got any heavier, as mine started tripping the electrics when a spring broke and short circuited the connections.
If so you will have to get the spring out, from the underneath is best and replace it if you want the door to work correctly again. On mine the second one went a month later.

Dishwasher trips out as soon as switched on

Sounds like you have a dead short, perhaps in the motor.
Please do not attempt to start it as it might catch fire.
Someone needs to pull it out form the counter and find out the problem for you.
Sorry!
Be Blessed.

As soon as I plug in , trips the fuse box

either the dishwasher has a short in it, or the electrical outlet you are plugging into is incorrectly wired. To check the outlet, use a $4 electrical socket tester you can get at any hardware store. That will tell you if the wiring is correct.

If the wiring is correct, then dishwasher probably has a major electrical short and will require a service person to trace the problem. May be more expensive than the dishwasher is worth, but only you know that part of it.

My Whirlpool ADG 7550 Dishwasher trips out all my electrical sockets as soon as its plugged in. It failed whilst in mid wash. Any advice?

It is possible there is a short in the electric system in the dishwasher. There are two possibilities

1. there is a leak to the earth due to some water leakage and this causes the earth relay to trip.
2. the dishwasher motor coil or capacitor is shorted and drops the circuit breaker.

If it is related to 1, then best to take the dishwasher out from the cabinet and check with multimeter if power plug Live is showing short with Earth connection. You will have to find source of the water leak onto the power board.

If it is related to 2, then isolate the motor capacitor and try again. But 2 is unlikely if the breaker trips even if the dishwasher is not turned on.

Please post a comment if you find anything.

My dishwasher when switched on keeps throwing the trip switch

i had this probem and apparently there's a 'float switch' in the bottom of the machine. This switch is a safety cut off and when activated can not just stop the machine but trip the electrics in the house. the reason for it activating is when food clogs up the drainage bit water can not drain and fills up the bottom of the machine. this then activates the 'float switch' as a kind of safety cut off.
the way to sort it is to disconect the machine from the mains and drain and water. empty the clogged up food from the drain bit. then tip the machine back and a load of water will pour out (may need a load of towels for this bit or take the machine out the back and do it)
once this is done, plug it all back in and give it a try - works for my machine, good luck.
