Hi, It seems problem with low screen voltage to three picture tubes in this rear projection tv. If standby light blinks 5 times after three seconds long pause then adjust screen volts of each picture tube to solve this issue. Screen volt adjustment requires expertise and job of professional so please call local tv repairman to help you. Thanks.
The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the
television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps
below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of
the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the
STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is
plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or
surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is
resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the
television.
My Sony trinitron has the stero lite on steady and standby lite flashes four times then pauses and repeats. Can you tell me the circuit/condition causing the set to not turn on.
First plug in again and look at led light, the amount it blinks tells what is wrong. Then if it stays lite it tells something also. You can try Display-channel 5-volume +- Power(service mode). Then Channel 8-enter(test reset). If this doesn't work then you will have to replace somethings like F601, R607, Q601, IC601, R612, VDR601.
If your Sony TV is hooked up to a good signal and is set up correctly, but only clicks and has no picture or sound, and even the menu will not show up on the screen, then it means that the main power supply has stopped working. I usually find that a small crack in the solder joint of the horizontal drive transformer or a shorted flyback will cause the large horizontal output transistor to short out, and this shorts out the switching transistors in the main power supply which then causes the Sony 0.1 ohm fuse resistor to open up. I have also seen power surges or power failures (brown-outs) cause the switching transistors to short out. In any case, the set absolutely should be serviced by someone experienced in repairing Sony TV's.

The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound.
Solution
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
