SOURCE: QuickBooks has experienced an error on startup

Step one is run scandisk. If you have a cross linked or corrupted file it will sort that out automactically. Step 2 is to google "where is the quickbooks repair feature".....odds are someone has used it before. Step 3.....save your Quickbooks database (in at least two places) and delete and reinstall Quickbooks if all else fails.

SOURCE: is quick books 2003 Vista compatabile?

QuickBooks Pro 2003 can run on Windows Vista. Right-click a shortcut to open Quickbooks (or qbw32.exe directly) and click on Properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Under Compatibility Mode, check the box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list. Under privilege level, select "Run this program as an administrator." Select OK and everything will work.

Computer crashed - installed new hard drive and quick books pro9 2001 - opens but when clicking on its closes says programme closing

QuickBooks from 2001 will probably have serious compatibility issues unless your operating system is from 2001 as well.
If you have a new operating system (Windows Vista onwards) you may be able to install and run QB in compatibility mode. I have it running on Vista Professional.
Right click on the executable and select Run in Compatibility Mode and then select Windows XP from the options.
If you do not have the option to run in Compatibility Mode, you will need to update QuickBooks, or your OS or best of all, both.
If you have no luck running in CM, uninstall the program, reboot and then install the program from the disc by using the same compatibility technique. You will need to disable autorun if the program tries to install itself when you put the disc in the drive

Problem reinstalling Quickbooks 2003 in XP Home

The newer versions of QuickBooks should be able to read the older versions files. You may get a message about updaing the data.
Many people have been reporting issues with Xp after service pack 3 came out, and was then pulled by Microsoft.
If your system did get the service pack 3 update, it may actually take a microsoft tech to undo the update successfully.

Changed year date, now it won't open quick books with out a pass

Have the administrator of Quickbooks log in mono-user mode and go under Edit --> Preferences --> Accounting --> Company Preferences Tab --> Change the closure date / password from there. He will be able to remove or assign a new password.
