We turned on our Sony PFM-42V1 Plasma tv only to find everything is blue and green. Input screens used to be black but are now gray. TV has 4,000 hours mounted above fireplace so it out of reach to my little one. Any ideas?
If you are lucky, it could be an open resistor or defective IC. Otherwise, I see a new TV in your future as the Plasma display would cost nearly $5500 for the part alone. If the fireplace is used much, I would not mount a TV above it, especially a plasma set which generates a lot of heat all by itself. If the fireplace is only used occasionally and you want to put the replacement set in the same spot, then I would consider a LCD model instead.

The TV worked again yesterday but now is doing the same thing today. I do see now that we do have other colors such as purple and orange. So maybe the red is not out??? All fleshtones are gone they are blue. Everyone looks like they are from the blueman group LOL. Anyways the Fireplace is not used often and we do monitor the temperature and have noticed NO increase at all when the fireplace is on. Contacted Sony, they have no idea and have never heard of this happening....hmmmm. Anyhow, is there anyway to test at home for an open reistor or defective IC? Thanks for all your help
I lost the Red, only green and blue. sometime the image is show, but is blinking in the background to the green and blue.
any new idea.
