Hello creative eye, Video or webcam chatting isn't currently supported in Google Talk. you can make video chat with in gmail, for this you have to install an adon. go to http://www.gmail.com/videochat. Just click on the new "Video & more" menu in a Gmail chat window and select "Start video chat" or "Start voice chat."

You don't need to start the webcam up in any way. You just make a Google Account and download Talk. There must be an option to start webcam. It will automatically start up.

On most HP Laptops, there is a blue light to show that the cam is in use.

Hello my friend, to access webcam and used it
1. Plug your webcam into your computer.
2. Insert the CD installer driver of your webcam then run the setup.exe to install its driver.
3. After you install try to run the webcam to used.
4. You can used the webcam for spying purpose, surveillance, security and even YM and SKYPE you can used it to have a cam while you are chatting in your YM and talking using your SKYPE.

this error occurs due to network problem. check for the following
  • your internet connection is dis-connected
  • you are running a firewall and that blocks access
  • you are running an anti virus software that blocks access to internet when google talk tries to connect
  • you are using proxy and you have not changed the settings in googlr talk for using proxy

Then click on Audio and when the window comes up, click on MICROPHONE HEADSET and select what you will be using. Then below that click on SPEAKER HEADPHONE and again select the one you will be using. Then click on OK. It should be read to chat.

As you are using to talk with your son on webcam, I can understand how Important it is to use Webcam in Gtalk.

But unfortunately Google didn'r include the webcam option as of now in Gtalk.

I am sure they will add this feature with the next comming versions of Gtalk.
