No sound from in-built microphone and sound through headphones

SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM
If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphonedriver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured inSkype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories -Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back.If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.
To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options -Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

Please try opening controll panel - under views click either small or large

icons. Look for sounds and open it. I think there are microphone options

listed there.

Go to the control panel, then sound. I don't have a vista machine in front of me right now, but there should be a tab for recording. Make sure it tis set to the microphone and not another device. Let me know if this works. If not, I can help further once I look at a vista machine.

i have no controls for the built in webcam on my toshiba satellite pro m300

You can download any/allthe Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model laptop from the ToshibaWEB site from their download page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptopso you can get the correct drivers. sorry, accourding to the laptop specs found here
you do have built in speakers but no mic!
you need to get mic and headphones or a headset to say chat with sound through your mic using msn messenger or skype.

I know is not the answer expected, my apologies!

Right click on the sound icon by the clock.Choose "open with volume control."...select options menu tab.---properties---make sure microphone is checked, click ok...make sure mic is not muted. it comes this way standard for security.

The Toshiba Satellite pro 6000 doesn't have a built in microphone as far as I can remember but it does have a microphone socket at the front next to the headphone socket. Both sockets are on the bottom left hand side left if looking from the front. The microphone one is the one on the left, if you look closely there are symbols next to each of the sockets, one looks like headphones the other like a microphone.
