LG 47LG50 dead....no red light, no blue light, no green light. It made a CLICK sound and went dead. Power Supply?

The TV would make a CLICK sound and shut off. After about 10 minutes I could turn it back on again and it would be fine for months. This time, it made the CLICK sound and went dead. No red, green or blue light by the power switch....just dead. Unplugged for 12 hours, plugged it back in....still nothing. Bad power supply? Main Board?

most LG have a "vacation switch" on the bottom right hand side of the set very near that standby light.

it is placed poorly, where you can accidently click when grabbing the TV to move it or swivel it.

it is a toggle switch, a "master power" switch.

you may have bumped it to the off position. flip the switch, your standby light will come back on.

SOURCE: Plasma Television won't turn on

Hello,

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.

if otherwise the power supply board is faulty you can try websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: LG 42 Plasma try's to turn on but just goes back into "stanby" ?

Check to see if you get Va and Vs voltages from the power supply. There should be some wires running to the y-sus. A couple of those wires will be labeled va and vs. Are they present? There will be a sticker stuck to the panel somewhere telling you what they should be.

SOURCE: LG 42PG20 Plasma blew a

Hello,

Once the voltage the television is connected to is very high, there is a very high tendency that the board will blow again, and it might not be as soon as you replace the board.

You will still have to replace the board, but you will try to get a board with higher capacitance on the capacitors. That way if exposed to higher voltage it wont get bad.

Also a tip is for you to get a step down transformer for your television or a stabilizer so as for the television not to be exposed to a very high current. That should help reduce the risk of having the board getting burnt again.

The screen only vents out once there is excessive heat in the unit and the fans in it are not working, then the screen can vent out.

Carefully assess all the boards on the television for any bad capacitors, like the ones that are swollen, it is not necessary for them to be bursted or smelly before they are bad, you just have to check for the ones that are already swollen.

Hope this information was helpful in solving the problem.
Goodluck

Red flashing light on 47lg50

After use Tv will not turn on

Tv will not turn on after previously being use. We will use the tv for a period of time turn it off and come back to it later in the day or night and the tv will not power on. The flashing red light on the bottom right corner will flash but it will not kick over to the blue light as it does when the tv is acting normal. Now we will wait an hour or two and the tv will turn on and work but it just starts the cycle all over again. The tv is not hot or warm or anything and does not make a noise. What can I do to fix this?

47LG50 won't turn on, no standby light at all. DEAD! tried different power sources, but nothing. was on, made a "bzzzddd" noise then turned off. Serious or just a fuse?

you can remove the fuse and check them with a multimeter. put a lead on each end If the meter shows a low number (normally less than 1), then the fuse should be okay. if not than you need a new power supply board. be sure at all times to have tv un pluged while working on them and always be very cautious as the do still hold power. hope this helps

LG 26LG30 screen suddently went blank. Light flashing blue/red

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

TV's on. No Picture...No Sound

Have a problem with Zenith 37 HDTV. Medel number: Z37LZ5D As wathcing TV, along with 'pop' sound, TV went dead. LG service center gave an advice to unplug the power cord and press ON/OFF power switch about 1 min. Then plug power back and turn on the TV. Well, the green light blink for a while and solid green, but still no screen, no audio. Search the Web and someone suggested to replace Power Supply Board which will fix the problem. Again, search the Web and came out with Power Supply Board. LG Electronics/Zenith 'Power Supply Assembl' with $124.95 from PartStore.com. Is it the right solution? Do I have to replace entire Assembly Board? not just replacing some fuse? Any cheaper way to do? If I have to replce PSA board, any suggestion to how? Comment posted on Apr 22, 2009 I have a basic knowledge of electric and electronics, such as rewiring entire house for renovation and assemble entire computer from scratch.
Actually, the TV belongs to my father and the problem that I stated was based on what he told me.
So the question is based on the symptom that I posted, how sure are you that the problem is the Power Supply Board?
Is it good to order PSB? Comment posted on Apr 23, 2009 Purchased 2 and half years ago. Expired one year warranty. Comment posted on Apr 23, 2009 Zohail,
This is LCD TV.
There is no problem with the wall socket nor current.
I put other appliances on same wall socket and worked.
It has to be internal problem.
As I mentioned on the main post, there was a 'pop' sound while watching and TV went dead.
Turn on remote control, there is blink green light and then green stays on, but no sound, no screen.
Turn off remote control, light turns red. Comment posted on May 14, 2009 I fixed the TV.
Orderd power supply board which cost me $136.51 total.
Replacing was simple.
Just removed the rear panel cover then electronic board housing cover.
Took power supply board with all the connector cables and replaced with new one.
Problem was a transformer connector which got burned and blow up the plastic cover.
But no problem with fuse and capacitors.

Thanks all for advises.
