Hello, some window units do not have drain holes to remove the condensate, instead they use the condenser fan blade to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser coil to keep it cool, and evaporate the condensate. This is the " swishing" sound that is heard.

Where is drain plug

Hello,
Usually on a window AC there is no drain plug. It relies on the tilt of the of the AC. The AC should be installed with a slight rear tilt so the water flows to the rear to where there should be two factory drain holes. Besure to get proper drainage otherwise the fan will pick up water and blow it into you house and cause humidity. I have also drill a hole on the lowest location on the bottom of the chassis to help drain it seven better. Your AC depending on where you live and how humid it is will collect more water on a humid day than a dry day and also the effenciancy will be worse on a humid day.

Water is spitting out of vents where is the drain pump on ac ?

David, there is no drain pump on your AC. There is a drain hole in the drip pan near the rear of the unit.
It is probably clogged. Another reason for your trouble is that the rear of the unit may not have the proper downward tilt. The rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" downward tilt. This allows the water to flow freely to the rear drip pan drain hole.

Find the drain hole can be a challenge, as the clog can blend in with the hole. Once you find it, a pipe cleaner works well to clear the clog.

Hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Portable haier air conditioner drainage. Cannot find drain hole and unable to tilt ac. Water is building up in the bottom of unit.

Here is a thought, received by me from a AC mechanic recently. Window ACs no longer actually drain concensate. Rather, the water is caught in a pan with the idea it will evaporate back into the outside air. The reason for this is the dripping water frequently resulted in the growth of algae below the unit resulting is unsightly stains and sometimes, slippery conditions. Evidently, there were a lot of complaints about being 'dripped on' also. So, AC manufacturers don't put drain holes in the bottom any more. If the pan over fills, it will spill out of many makes. If you want yours to drain, put a hole in the bottom.

Like I said, just a thought.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

I cannot find a drain hole and the window AC fills with water and then drains inwards. WHen I have large tilt to the back and take the ac out of the window, I get covered in water that has been sitting in...

Part of the problem may be, that you don't maintain enough tilt down on the back of the unit. 1/4" to 1/2" is generally enough to drain the water to the rear of the drain pan. Some drain pans have a hole near the rear of the drain pan. They can be hard to find, if they're clogged, because the clog blends in with the drain pan. Others may have a **** in the corner of the drain pan, rather that a hole.

If you are unable to find the drain hole to unclog it and you're feeling really lucky, you can always drill a 1/8" hole in the rear corner of the pan and create a new one. However, the unit must be unplugged and the pan must be almost dry, before attempting this. In addition, you must be extremely careful when drilling this hole, so as not to pierce any of the mechanical parts above it. In other words, you must be in total control of the drill.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My Dometic roof mounted aircon appears to discharge the water straight onto the roof. 1) Is this normal operation. 2) Is there a drain tube fitted, and if yes, where would I find it? Assistance will be...

Yes it is normal for AC to drain on to roof as the drain holes are in base of AC unit. The time to worry is when you don't see it draining on to roof, as this indicates holes may be plugged.

Blocked Weep Hole: Hello. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger xlt and water collects on the passenger side floor. I was told the weep hole for the a/c condensate is likely blocked. Can someone tell me where the weep...

The AC evaporator/core condensation drain tube is located on the passenger side of the fire-wall towards the bottom of the fire-wall, (it resembles a heater hose that is coming off from the fire-wall and it connects to nothing, and it is just to drain the AC condensation) and it is easily viewed from under the vehicle. Use long pipe cleaners folded in half to clean out the AC drain, and be very careful that the AC evaporator/core, or the heater core is not damaged from using any hard or sharp objects to clean out the AC drain.

Water leaks out all over the floor from the window air conditioner

you need to make sure of two things.

1) the AC is 'tilted backwards' just a little bit - to allow the water (condensate water from the evap coil) to drip from the bottom of the AC - out the 'condensate drain hole' - sometimes into a drain hose (usually rubber) or just through the hole to somewhere outside where it doesn't hurt anything.

2) make sure the - condensate drain hole, and drain hose - (if one is used) is clear and not clogged up - to allow the condensate water to drain.

hope this helps

I have samsung window AC, Water is not drain from my window ac but i am getting the cooling well .. but water stored inside the machine if it make any problem in future? bottom of the machine have one hole...

If you continue to operate your AC with the drain 'closed up' it will eventually :"run over" and probally into the house.

The drain hole should be open so your 'condensate water' can drain to an outside location.

Water is very bad for AC compressors - your service tech doesn't have a clue as to what he's talking about.

good luck!

Kenmore AC 58067081. Have water draining out front. Think it's clogged, but where are the drain holes. Nothing in manual... I've taken off the front grill, and shop vac'd up the water sitting in the bottom...

If you can slide the unit out, there is a drain tube or drain hole from the front tray under the coil that directs the water into the rear of the unit to drain out the hole. That tube needs to be blown out or flushed. It's most likley plugged. You only need to add the drain pipe if you want to direct the drain water away from where it drips now.
