I have an electric whirlpool duet dryer that wont turn on when the power button is pushed. but i noticed the heavy duty light on the dial stays on unless I unplug the machine. we have already replaced the control board and had a technician out that could not fix it. sometimes it works and that is when the light on the dial will move but mostly it stays stuck on heavy duty and its lit up.

We would suggest calling Whirlpool Customer Service in order to troubleshoot what could be happening with the dryer. Please contact us at 1-800-253-1301 and we would be happy to look into the dryer issue with you.
when you unplug it you're resetting the computer board just like your house computer does,so if it helped by unplugging it i would have to say the board is bad and needs to be replaced.next time send the model number off of the machine
i can be either the timer , control board or check to see if there is a wire brush runing on the drum this is a sensor and if it is worn down it give funny readings
Dryer door does not think it is closed. There is a sensor on the top of the door that is probably not making contact with the door. Trying pushing the top part of the door and holding it then press the start button.. if the unit starts running then you know what it is. I just had one of these dryers delivered today and had to find out about this by myself tonight!!
You have got a bad connection somewhere, it could be in the timer unit,or the door switch, take off the top and shake the wires with a rubber glove on, the machine would have to be on to do this,be careful, you can by pass the switch by joining the two wires If there is just two.If only I had it in my work shop, but Ireland is too far away good luck.top of the morning to you as all us paddys say!
