Generally, there are screws that hold the beater bar onto the vac head.  Loosen them, remove the glop that got in there and you should be okay.  If you remove the screws, note the location of all parts...Digital cameras are great things. If you forced the adjustment, you may have broken or bent something.

My height adjustment on my new bissell power force helix tirbo rewind vaccum wont adjustmy height adjustment dont go up and down

If the height adjustment on your Bissell PowerForce Helix Turbo Rewind vacuum is not functioning properly, there are a few things you can try to fix it:
  1. Make sure that the height adjustment lever is being pressed down all the way. Sometimes the lever can get stuck in the "up" position, which prevents the height adjustment from working.
  2. Check the height adjustment mechanism to make sure it is not damaged or obstructed. This may involve removing the vacuum's dustbin or base plate to access the mechanism.
  3. If the height adjustment lever and mechanism are functioning properly, the problem could be with the vacuum's belt. The belt is responsible for driving the height adjustment mechanism, and if it is stretched or damaged, it may not be able to move the mechanism properly. In this case, you may need to replace the belt.
  4. If none of these solutions fix the problem, the vacuum's internal hardware may be faulty and will need to be repaired or replaced. You may need to seek the assistance of a professional for this type of repair.

Can I fix the high, medium, low level switch on vacuum piece?

The height adjustment lever on Kenmore Power Nozzles is one of the machine's weak points. It's not well made as far as being protected from dirt and dust and moisture. It's always easier to move these things when the vac is on it's side or at least with the front end in the air. That takes the pressure off the adjuster. The mechanism may need nothing more than to taken apart in the presence of a good air compressor which can be used to blow out any of the aforementioned debris.

Height Adjustment on Hoover Wind Tunnel doesn't seem to do the job.

You changed the belt that drives the brushroll, it is a flat stretch belt. The V belt also should be replaced every year or two max. It will not be stretched out like the flat belt but with normal use the side of the v will of wear off and the belt will be a little thinner which can cause it to slip on the pulley. The V belt drives the transmission. The flat belt goes from the transmission to drive the brushroll. The burning smell could come from the V belt if it's slipping real bad.

Hey everyone, first time on forums. I have a Eureka True Clean vacuum that I found in the garbage. I have disassembled everything, cleaned and restored it. Looks perfect now. Suction from hose is powerful,...

Change the belt on the unit, and adjust the height adjustment until the brushes are just touching the carpet. I know you mentioned the belt looks good, but when you get the new EXT-U belt, you will notice a size difference. Good luck!

I don't know how to change the brush. HELP Kirby Legend II vacuums

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. To change the Kirby brushroll is to dial the belt off of the fan pulley and unlock the head to the bell housing, the head will come off. Then you turn the head over and remove the bottom plate by 2 levers the brushroll will be attached. Remove the brushroll and replace it with the new one with the screw head facing down to the carpet. Replace the bottom plate and install a new belt. The belt install on a Kirby is to raise the height adjustment to the highest level and then dial the belt off counter clockwise so it is loose and not on the fan pulley, release the top lever on the bell housing, then remove the bottom plate and unhook the brushroll on one side, slide the old belt off and then slide the new one on, replace the brushroll with the screws facing the carpet and re-hook the bottom plate on the Kirby. Then take the bell housing and hook that back on to the Kirby and lock it down. Then dial the belt on clockwise all the way and the belt should be on the fan pulley. The belt should be ready to go, plug in your Kirby and then do the step down on the vacuum height adjustment until the tone changes, then try to see id it picks up, if not go one more height adjustment and that should be the correct setting.

We have a Kirby Ultimate G. Since we purchased it bounces across the floor and the level of the sweeper has nothing to do with it. To get it to stop, it has to be at the highest level. The place we bought it, has done nothing to help us. We tried a new beater brush, no help. If I have to use it at it's highest level to sweep my carpet, I might as well not waste my time. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Kirby Ultimate G Bagged Upright Vacuum
The only thing I can suggest is that the brushroll could be in backwards, as you look @ the bottom of the brushroll from the bottom plate, the head of the screws should be facing the floor on each side of the brushroll, so check the brushroll because I thing that is what is happening, what you can do is adjust the brushroll down using the screws doing a ¼ or ½ turn
Until the brushroll stops bouncing across the floor, once you get it adjusted correctly then raise the height adjustment to the highest level and adjust downward to listen for the tone to change and then try it, it should work and if not go down one more adjustment – also change the belt every 4 to 6 months as recommended by the manufacturer. Feel free to contact a local vac dealer in your area for the brushroll height adjustment if you have problems. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
