Keyboard stops working in the middle of using it.

You've got yourself a broken keyboard. More than likely the connection from keyboard>mainboard is worn or broken, resulting in failure during use. my recommendation is that you should not switch to windows xp because now a days laptop are better compatible with windows 7 and as for the lower version of software that are not running try getting higher version because newer version will always have some improvement

The HP you have doesn't have a SIM card. Those are for phones or network devices.

Sub out the ram one at a time, if luck is there unit will start, second option is remove the main battery often loads the system down.
Take it to a service shop asp, key board will need to be replaced, and the laptop will need to be assessed for motherboard damage.

You should replace the keyboard. Either bring it in to a PC shop, or buy a replacement keyboard yourself and follow these instructions:
