Hello...I have a Reddy propane heater model #RLP100. The problem I have is that after holding in the temp. button for 30 seconds on start up, the flame will go out. I replaced the thermocouple with the same results. My uneducated guess is, at worse, the valve kit is faulty. How can I be sure? The other side of the problem, at best, propane tank needs to be replenished. What say you to this?
Try a little longer, sometimes it takes a full minute to heat the thermocouple. Check and make sure thermocouple is in flame. If all this is ok. then your going to have to change the valve.
If your incoming pressure is correct and , your thermocouple output is correct .
It should be the valve.
The valve has to have the right pressure against it to work properly.

Thank you for your time.

Thank You so much....sadly to say, my uneducated guess was right...is there a way to test the valve?
I have a propane reddy heater pro100. After holding the button in for 30 seconds to even 2 minutes the flame goes out when I let the button go. what is the valve that is being talked about that might need replaced?
For those who may be interested. Today I put a fresh tank to my heater hoping to cure the problem. The lame still goes out when the pilot button is released. All symptoms show that the valve kit is faulty. The price to replace it is $80.00 with the shipping. The thermocouple and the valve kit will come to a little over a $100.00. All said and done, I'm thinking to buy another which will have a warranty. Does anyone need pats to a RLP100?
Hello all....after thinking of my plight with my propane heater I came up with an idea. Since the flame on my heater won't stay on when the temp button is released, I will secure the button down with duct tape or whatever. It won't heat at the high settings but at least i'll get warmth. One advantage is at the low setting, it'll run longer. Having the button secured in this position, will it shorten the life of anything?
I'm having the same problem, but even when it did run the air was hard to breath and eye's burn.Is this heater a waste of money?
Just a regular kerosene heater starts up beautifly and after 30 seconds the flames whither away. I thought it might be water in the Tank which is soaked into the wick. After the kerosene burns after that it gets to the water that soaked up in the wick and burns out. I put kerosene treatment in but same results.please advise, larry
