Is there air coming out of the freezer vent inside the freezer? If not, then there is ice built up on the fan. Let me know if there is air blowing in the freezer or not.
can you hear the compressor running?
this is going to sound rather silly for a fix, but if the compressor is running and no air is coming out of the freezer, it means either the fan is iced up to the point where it can't blow, or the fan motor is burnt out and needs to be replaced...try this...right below the vents in the freezer as far down as you can go from them, give the back wall of the freezer a good "whack" and listen for something to fall down...if something does, that was ice...if the fan starts blowing again, yay, you've fixed it. If that doesn't work then you'll have to start taking it apart to get to the fan in there...The fan in the freezer is what makes your fridge cold...Cold air is blown up through the freezer and is allowed to "fall" down into the fridge through the vents at the side and bottom of the freezer compartment.
then the next option is to take apart the freezer rear wall to get to the fan. this is the link to the part explosion for your freezer..https://www.maytag.com/digitalassets/MLP... just paste it into your browser, it should take you directly to it. Notice part number 2...this is the panel you will need to remove to have access to the fan. once you get to the fan, spin it with a screwdriver or something to see if it's able to spin...oh yeah, make sure the fridge is off first, no electrocutions today ok? if the fan is able to spin then just try turning it on again to see if it will work now...if not you will need to take off the motor assembly number 7 on the list. Just make sure you pay attention to how things came apart and take notes on where things went. You can get a new motor at an appliance parts place. It's crazy how that one part can kill a fridge...hope this all helps you...let me know how it goes
Ok, another thought here. There might be a problem with the thermostat. It is located inside of the housing where the Light inside of the fridge is. If that thermostat goes bad, the fridge would be on defrost all the time...however, the fridge would get HOT real fast and the compressor wouldn't be on...so since you said the compressor was on...kinda rules out the thermostat but just fyi...wish I was there I'd just fix it for you..
