Colored vertical lines still has sound

My tv was working fine this morning. about 3 hrs later there were colored vertical lines on the screen, the sound is fine. i can't pull up the menu on the tv.

I have two tv's running from the same satellite box, the other tv is picture is fine

I have a Zenith 42" Plasma with the same problem. Was working fine and then we suddenly got nothing but colored vertical lines, but no picture. We do have sound, but are unable to bring up the menu guide. We bought the TV from Best Buy a few years ago and the warranty expired last year. We called Best Buy and were told that because they do not carry this TV anymore that they could not help us.

it could be your signal check your satalight dish it could of broke moved slightely or tv broke or your sky box what ever you have has broke.

You most likely had a capacitor let go, they make a pop when the go out, inspect the PCB for a burned mark.

Screen looks like it is a barcode

Sounds like the tiny E2P board with the EPROMS may be bad or problem on digital boards with leaking caps.

E2P not easy to get at as buried in between two boards under the shield on one.

My ASUS E5871 won't boot up. When turned on, about 1/3 of the screen is white, the rest black. A bit later all or sometimes part of the screen will be white with tiny vertical colored lines. It'll play...

Sounds like you have a cracked LCD screen. Cracked lcds can result in white/black/lines, etc. To be sure, hook up an external monitor and see if that shows a proper image.

Different color vertical lines on screen Sony KDF-E55A20

Go to the last page of troubleshooting in the manual and perform the system reset procedure. Basically hold the Wega "arrow up" as you manually switch the TV off. It will automatically switch back on and reset. I had only vertical colored lines on the screen, with audio but no response to any remote control functions. The rest worked perfectly.

Plasma TV with vertical lines

EASY! ok the 4th video processing unit is malfunctioning, if it is a Piano affect like the keys on the piano, then that can be fixed under your 1year warrenty after your 1year warrenty it will cost $200, but i could be wrong, i never studied panasonic plasma casue they ****, next time get a samsung.

the worst contrast and video ajustments, thats a panasonic.

trust me i am the flat pannel guru!

Blue,red,green lines on top of screen for couple months. Now tv wont work.

The foldover is because of a bad capacitor in the vertical circuit. Given the "new" sympotom of a dead set, I would suspect that the vertical IC has failed. This should be a relatively simple repair for a TV shop. If you wish to attempt a repair of this yourself, update this and confirm your model number and I'll post more details and instructions.

Vertical color lines

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I turned on the TV and it had colored vertical lines through the whole screen. I called Sony and they had me unplug the TV for about 15 minutes. This solved the problem. They said the boards just needed to be reset. It fixed the problem and I am happy with my Sony once again.

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.
