Re: Heard pop an my panasonic tv shut off. can't get...
Power supply is suspect number one---in most cases there will be a for example 10 blink code from the power light---damage to the board may be hidden from view--so even if looked at you will see nothing.

go to Menu, AND restore to the factory default. Read your owner manual or download from www.fitness.manualsonline.com + www.retrevo.com If the problem persist, you have problem with the power supply circuit. You must go to the repair shop TV for fix it. God bless you
I had the same problem with my Viera. if you disconnect the power and ribbon cable from the YSUS board (check youtube for how), the light led will blink 6 times, indicating the YSUS is bad. Check ebay for TNPA5175 board (about $115-160). The pop is one of the DG402RP chips burnout. These are about $4, but only available from China. If you can wait a month for delivery, you can solder the new one to replace the bad one. You may want to purchase several in case more are bad or it happens again.
The power supply regulator section should be troubleshooted. The "Pop" sound you heard might be of a bursted electrolytic capacitor in the AC mains rectifier section inside the TV. All the related commponets, rectifier diodes, protection zener diodes etc:- should be checked before switch ON the TV further.
Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Yes its easy fix. What you heard pop was a capacitor. Let me know if I can help you........Thanks for choosing FixYa...John
Two things in your TV can make that popping sound. One is the bulb of course and the other is a capacitor. Have you pulled out the bulb to inspect it? My guess is that you have broken glass in the cooling fan, which is why there is a grinding sound. Most bulbs tend to contain the glass from getting everywhere as it's only the filament inside that pops creating little diamond looking pieces inside the lens. If a surge was strong enough or if the bulb was poorly manufactured, the whole unit can explode inside spraying glass everywhere.
If the bulb looks fine, the pop must've been a capacitor on one of your circuit boards resulting in no display. Since the TV still powers on, your power supply and it's fuse appear to be fine. Check the bulb first and go from there.
