I have swapped my ATX case and the new one seems to have more connections than the old one and I can't seem to get the configuration right.
Firstly do the HDD Led/Power SW Led/Reset SW (All are 2 pin connectors) need to fit a particular way round - if so how can I tell which way they go?
Secondly (and main problem!) is that the new case has a 3 pin connector for the Power Led, and I can't see where to connect it - reading the motherboard manual it suggests there is an Optional 3 pin connector, but I don't have it. The old case had a 2 pin connector and it was lighting the LED, but I am not sure where it was plugged in. There are spare pins on the board, but the end 2 are marked "SUS LED" if that is any help.
All replies gratefully received.
Hi sjcrofts,
The most common problem for most people is knowing what wire color is positive & which wire color is negative. The colors blue, red, green, light blue, light red & light green are normally positive. The color white & black are negative. Your board uses only 2-pin connectors. The 3-pin power connector can be turned into a 2-pin connector to work with the M848ALU pins.
(Page 13, PANEL1). How to? Take the three pin connector, on the back side of the connector you'll see a small tab that holds the wire into the connector. Use a needle & pull tab up while pulling the wire out at the same time. The wire should slide out. Insert the wire back into the connector next to the other wire. You do not need to hook up the SUS led which stands for suspend.
Pin 1 is positive & the manual shows this by adding the _P = positive.
Pin 3 which is to the right of pin 1, is negative for the hard drive led. Pins 9 & 10 are not used.
Good luck sjcrofts!
Mike
Usualy the power LED plug is for three pins, but only has 2 wires. You have to remove one wire from the black plastic connector plug and put it next to the other wire in the empty slot. To determine if you have connected the plugs the right way around is simply the fact that the LED will not light if its the wrong way around. You cannot damage *********** board by connecting these pins the wrong way.
On the side of the black plastic plug is a thin plastic strip which holds the pin in place. This pin is soldered to the wire in question. You can remove the wire by gently inserting a sharp object under the plastic strip and lifting it up. this should release the wire from the plastic plug. Now insert the wire next to the other one. Let me know if you are successful or not.

OK thanks - how do I get the wire out of the connector - you are right that there are only 2 wires - it seems to be soldered in??!
Thanks Again.
Thanks for your help everyone - I swapped it last night, but still couldn't get it to work, but then worked out I had to pull both wires out and put the coloured one in the middle, white to the side.
Why don't they just use a 2 pin connector, and why call it SUS when all the others are labelled in plain english? - ideas for improvement to PC CHIPS!
Thanks again for all your comments
