What I am using is this program: Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. I have been using it for nearly one year and haven't encountered any problems so far. I use it to convert my sony hdr-cx160 1080/60p mts videos to h.264 mp4 with 720p video resolution for playback on my iPad.
The best important factor appropriates me to choose it is its large variety of video formats. I feel it is very dependable and does exactly what I need it to do. Overall I am very happy with it and feel it was a good investment of my money.
So I think you could give it a try.
Besides, below is the best output video settings for converting your Sony DSC-TX55 1080i AVCHD videos to iPad:

I have an ipad 3 and I have collections of downloaded MKV videos converted to iPad 3 compatible video formats. The program I am using is PAVTUBE Video Converter which provides presets for iPad 1, 2 and 3. The output movies play perfectly in my iPad 3. In my experience, video quality is based more on video bitrate. So please set the bitrate of output ipad video as its original value to keep TX55 video intact quality. http://www.pavtube.com/video_converter/
SOURCE: igot converting problem, please help!
Well, I use a program called SUPER. You can get it at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html. It doesn't automatically add the file to you player, but it converts just about anything. You could also try the Total Video Converter shareware, which you can download at www.download.com. It too converts most things, but I find that it is a lot easier to use. It doesn't automatically add the files either, but you can do that by going to my computer and clicking on the player icon, going in until you find the music folder, and copying and pasting the file in there.

SOURCE: video to zvue 260
Use a program called Zorg to create your movie files.
I have not used the Zapp program as I found it well.... stupid. IF you have windows XP or Vista when you connect your zvue you can see it as a device under " My Computer" just open and drag and drop your files onto the system Even better is if you have a SD card reader, you can just copy the files directly into the card in about a 3rd of the time.
Good Luck
