I bought one HP E01010 16 port KVM from ebay, took out of box and it's password protected. Emailed ebay seller and they don't have any idea what the password is. I can't find anything on google to reset unit back to factory default settings. I found the user manual online in PDF format and it gives no options. I tried to connect via the serial port using multiple baud rate settings but cannot connect. Anyone know how to remove the password so this unit can be used?

Hi,
with HP the recovery console activation should just be F11 without the CTRL.
If your recovery partition does not work, or is corrupt/missing then your best bet is to either order the recovery discs or take it to a local tech that may have access to OEM discs that can be used with the license key on the machine to reinstall the operating system.

If you don't have a set of restore disks, turn the laptop off and then on and watch the screen carefully. It will usually say something like Press F11 (or some other key) for Restore. Press the stated key while you can still see the message. Then, simply follow the prompts.
In case you have then press F11 on the keyboard, in case the same does not work the
Start > All Programs > HP Backup and Recovery > HP Backup and Recovery Manager. The same file may be hidden (locate the file through) D:\HP_Recovery\MiniNT\System32\start.exe.

There wouldn't be. It should have come with all of the restore CD's. If not, then call HP and have them sent to you.
