I have owned my Westinghouse SK-32H240s for about 18 months now, and I ... Youwon't be certain if you are getting the right firmware or the complete firmware. .....makes it stop for a while, the same as it may with a weak antenna signal. .... would just go nuts and display a bunch of colored bars vertically.

You may have failing T-CON board or the main logic board, or worst case will be the LCD panel (you usually get solid vertical color lines with bad LCD panel).
Yes it ur tv.Ur tv LCD inverter backlight board is dead.Change this board to get picture back.It a long board usally.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com for the board part.
More likely to be bad LCD controller, run it with the back remove and have small fan blowing close to the LCD controller to see if it helps, I add heat sinks to my LCD controller: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/

Sounds like pixel problems, this could be a bad panel or board inside tv. I would contact manufacturer and see if they have policy with bad pixel panel. Even with out of warranty try anyways.
