Yesterday, out of nowhere my TV went darker than normal. Even after adjusting the brightness, the TV is still dark. Anybody out there with the solution. I paid $2k plus years ago. I was told I had 60,000 hours, there is no way I am close to that.
The 60 K hours is bogus---Average life on a OEM lamp is 2,000 hours or two years average---if you got four or more years you were lucky.
To your problem---

I have seen a number of Samsung sets where the picture was unexpectedly dark---if you remove the lamp look inside---there is a glass pillar in the middle that supports the filament---it better not appear bent and be as straight as a flagpole---
Heat does it and usually shortly after it will fail completely.
Again about life--we are seeing a new generation of cheap lamps out there--generic bulbs that cost half what a OEM one does--compare the price and warranty---seeing some OEM for 85 and the Generic for 40-----the former has either a six month or one year warranty and the cheapo 90 days ----tempted to say 90 feet
if lamp over 18 months of age it is likely the problem.

all 3 lights blinking means lamp has a fault the service manual says replace the lamp. If you need the service training manual for that model let me know and I will post the link as the training manual has excellent trouble shooting breakdowns for that model DLP

I did some reading on this. They said its caused by a faulty DMD board. I understand it's costly... around $700 to replace. Still looking for a cheaper avenue...
SOURCE: White dots appearing on Samsung TV screen and multipling each day
It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.
SOURCE: Own a Samsung DLP TV 42 inch and white dots have
The random whit dots you are seeing is more than not the DMD or million little mirrors board. The white spots represent some of the mirrors that are sticking in the on position. In that case they are always reflecting white light from the lamp. I don't concider the DMD board a do it yourself repair since on the older DLP set it requires mechanical alignment as well. The best thing to do is contact a techincian and see what they might charge to repair the TV for you. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks..

Hi
Well for what you describe it sounds like the symptoms of a worn out lamp giving you the last kicks, basically the the lamps are design to go for 6,000 to 8,000 lamp hours if they're Phillips and a generic lamp could give you 3500 to 4500 lamp hours so with this in mind you could search for a new lamp at Discount-merchant.com or you can go to Ebay also you can go to www.fixyourdlp.com for more troubelshooting
Please rate this if it was helpful.as I do this for free.
