I tried your solution about pressing the setup key 3 times to get to the default key but it was to no success. It just went back and forth to the setup menu. What am I doing wrong?

Your unit has it seems to have developed a video problem. it could be in the video switching IC or the video processor. Its going to need a trained technician, who knows how to use an ocilliscope to find the video problem.. Good Luck

Try hitting the "Lock" button on the remote. That solved the problem for us.

turn on dvd, make sure the disk is out, press and hold the stop button for 5 seconds and it should go back to the picture

I imagine you have checked the disk for scratches top and bottom, if so you can purchase a cd/dvd lens cleaner cdrom as the laser may need realigning and cleaning.

This just worked for me. Don't know how long it will last though. I found it on this webpage
